    Foam cove

We used the foam cove, and then ran duct tape along the seams on both the top edging and between the pieces of cove where they butt up, to a) help stick it in place a little better and b) to help reduce any creases that might become visible when the liner is sucked tight under the water weight.

Safety cover to keep kids out

Ok, so we have two cats as well. That's something I'm really worried about - the solar cover (it just floats on the pool), if the cats (or a kid!) does fall in, it's going to make swimming to the edge extremely difficult. KimKats, you don't use a cover at all? I guess you probably don't deal...

Safety cover to keep kids out

Yeah, we plan to do a self-closing, locking gate as well, to keep them off the deck, but I'm just worried that if they (or family friends' kids) happen to make it over the gate somehow, a safety cover would offer that kind of last line of defence....and the deck only goes part way around the...

Safety cover to keep kids out

We are in year 2 of owning our 27ft round above-ground pool. Last year, we simply took the A-frame ladder in and out when we went in, and our two small children (6 and 3) were not able to access it any other way. This year, we are building a partial deck around half of the pool, and I'd like...

    Pool Deck Considerations

Thanks for the picture! Your deck is beautiful. Have you had any issues with people sitting on the edges at all, and pushing down on the sidewalls?

    Pool Deck Considerations

Last year we set up our 27 ft round above ground pool, and this year we will be constructing a deck around it. We have a large existing deck off the back of our house, and this new deck will be just off of the existing deck, with a set of stairs connecting. We've designed the pool deck so that...

Sold house with a pool, bought another house...with a pool

I can picture it with sparkling blue water....good luck!!

No CYA from the beginning, no FC

We filled with our well water two weeks ago (new pool), as we knew our iron was quite low from well tests. Anyway, the water was terrible for the first few days, so cloudy, I thought we would never swim in it...all hope was lost. We just kept at it and were patient, following Pool School...

What did you do to your pool today?

Today I...swam in my pool for the first time! The kids loved it, we were in for most of the day. I also tested FC and CC this morning, tested again after we swam, and added more chlorine thanks to a very noticeable drop. We really enjoyed swimming...but I gotta say, testing is a bit addictive ;)

    Hello Eh from Canada.

Greetings, from the other side of Canada :)

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

It still doesn't feel real, like any minute it's just going to collapse (hahahah). I was reading a bit about the iron, and we just tested FC, CC and pH with our TF-100...FC - 0.5ppm, CC 0.5ppm (the colours went from pink to clear with just one drop for both), and the pH looks to be at 7.8. I...

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

Thank you!! Oh man, we were terrified of that wind. I just kept picturing the wall buckling, causing it to jump out of the bottom track, and then my tears would have filled a pool ;) The air was so calm behind our wagon convoy, they really did help!

My above ground pool collapsed this past weekend

We will have to close ours down likely mid September as well, and we JUST got ours put up this past weekend. We still don't have the pump/filter/heater turned on yet, so it won't be until next weekend that we are swimming. And I still think it's worth it :) Next Spring, you will be able to just...

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

Walls up....for the second time :grrrr: We had to retape a ton of the seams, as the duct tape sat in the sun and rain for over a week and was just peeling right off. Every little slight breeze or off-white cloud was giving us flashbacks of the first build!! No pictures of the liner going in...

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

She's up! And FULL of water!! I tried to get the pics to load and they were too huge, and then I gave up until now :) I'll post in a few! The water is JUST approaching the skimmer now, so we're anxiously awaiting to see that the pipes don't leak :) And then tonight we'll finally be able to...

Filling pool, liner not flat against wall

That's good to know.....pool ol' vac sounds like it's about to die!

Filling pool, liner not flat against wall

We turned the shop vac back on, it seemed to help a lot! There is about 7 inches of water in the pool now, and the liner is only out about 2inches from the wall (a marked change from what it was). We've shut everything down now to wait for the sun, but we'll throw the shop vac back on again...

Filling pool, liner not flat against wall

We're finally filling our 27ft above ground, round (decided to make a new, specific thread instead of adding this to my build thread). It is hot out today, although the sun has gone behind some clouds. Around 80% of the pool, the vinyl liner is tight to the cove and hanging nicely tight to the...

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

Looks like tomorrow will be Rebuild Day! The sun will be shining, the wind will be low....I'm really nervous, but it has to come together...right?! Right. We were going to do the install on Tuesday but were expecting winds on Wednesday and I know we can't fill it very fast, so we decided not...

AGP Oval install - sand vs foam?

I haven't done sand, but we just finished laying out the foam for our 27ft round pool and it was pretty easy to work with. It's only 1inch, but it feels very well supported under our feet. Not sure how it will feel once the water goes in, but I'm happy with it so far!

    My pool setup (re-done correctly)

Looking good! Wind has been causing us a great deal of trouble with our build too, I can't wait to be at the point of water! Happy swimming!

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

Hahahahahah re: hubby! He does alright ;) I do think we can just tape up the bottom, it snaps in really perfect lines (yay!) so I think another few triple-tapes and we're golden. I just need to remeasure the track, as I definitely pulled it out of round while we were in panic mode! I think it...

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

Ok, so even though I am now back at square one, I thought I'd share my first build pics. Let's call it a practice build, a rehearsal for the real deal hahaha. Here is my husband, rolling out the wall! The end is taped to the ladder to act as a third person. We were so filled with hope and...

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

It's made by Atlantic, I can't find an actual brochure on their page (our pool is called the Nature, but sold through Pool Supply Canada so it might go by a different name). Anyway, this brochure is for a diff pool but has the same generic text about these 'omega stabilizers'. Basically, it...

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

Ohhhh interesting!! I wonder if it would work with this stabilizer rod....they go on and on about how they are the only pool manufacturer that uses it, so of course I can find very little info online. And also I'm finding it to be more of a pain than anything (and clearly it didn't stabilize...

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

We were so fired up on anger and adrenaline this morning, as soon as we finally stopped and it was all cleaned up, I had a good cry. We really didn't know if it was salvageable this morning while we were pulling it all down, so every gust of wind was like a 'ha-ha' from Mother Nature and some...

New build, 27ft round above-ground in Canada

In case anyone is curious at all....pools come down a lot faster than they go up. 8 hours yesterday to go up, 30 minutes in the middle of the night to come down. We woke up to howling winds, to see a section had completely collapsed. Hubby ran out to hold it up and start anchoring it somehow...
