    I went to my local pool shop. Gentleman there gave me some great advice. CAREFULLY cut a section out of it using a hacksaw blade to relieve the pressure. No problems. Thanks for the suggestions! John

    I had that thought too about the grooves. All I'm doing is chipping and marring the plastic (it's too soft). I suspect I'm just going to have to destroy and replace. Thanks all.

    glue on return jet eyeball insert?

    I bought a Polaris vacuum that connects to the return port of the pump. I can get the eyeball and its lock ring off with no problem, but I need to remove the insert and it won't budge. Is there any reason an installer might use glue? I'm afraid I'm going to destroy it if I force it too much...
