Pentair SuperFlo VS with a bad bearing. Where to find the parts?

You're right. I need to call my installer today and see if I'm still covered. DIY repair is my backup plan. It also annoys me that Pentair wants you to throw out an entire motor for a $6 bearing, so part of me is dying to pull that thing apart and figure out the bearing size.

Pentair SuperFlo VS with a bad bearing. Where to find the parts?

Hello all, I have a Pentair SuperFlo VS pump that is a little over two years old and is making an odd noise. I'm 95% certain its the outboard bearing on the drive motor, so I'd like to repair it before it completely locks up. Looking at the Pentair documentation, they'll have you throw away the...

K-2006 Nearing Expiration, Give up and go TF100?

Right. Which is why I said this in the OP.... "Buying refills from TF is almost expensive as a new kit", i.e. K2006 refills.

K-2006 Nearing Expiration, Give up and go TF100?

lol, thanks for the input, my issue is not with TFTestkits it's this statement in regards to their phenol red r-0014 "Will not work for K-2006 kit".

K-2006 Nearing Expiration, Give up and go TF100?

Yeah that's what I saw but they say that their pH test is not compatible with the k2006. Not sure why, would love to know as I'd love to buy their refill.

K-2006 Nearing Expiration, Give up and go TF100?

I currently have a Taylor K-2006 that I purchased in August 2015. So far I've only had to replace the r0871/r0870 and I'm getting short again. Looking at the rest of the tests I see exp dates of 5/2017. I'd like to refill the bottles but that is looking very expensive. Buying refills from TF is...

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

Re: Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #2 Complete FAIL YESSS!! OCLT #3 is a Pass. Nailed the 31 ppm target last night and measured 30 ppm FC, <0.5 ppm CC this morning. I went ahead and order a SpeedStir in the event I have to go through this again. I added a total of 17 bottles of...

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

Re: Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #2 Complete FAIL Ugggghhhh. OCLT #2 under my belt and that did not go as expected. I tested about 20 minutes ago and got a result of 21.5 ppm. That's disappointing as I thought I'd be in the clear. Two things that I think may have impacted this...

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

Re: Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT Complete OCLT #2 is underway. We had a cool cloudy day and the chlorine loss wasn't that great. I got lucky by turning on the chlorinator for a few hours. I did two tests and measured 30 and 31 ppm FC with no CC that I could tell. Hopefully...

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

Re: Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT Complete CC was almost non existent. The change from 1 drop was barely noticeable. I'd say it is less than 0.5 ppm Perfect. I'll give it another go today. It wasn't my intention to bust the FC target so badly. The gallon of bleach should have...

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

Re: Is it time for me to Shock my pool? OCLT complete. I tested the pool almost an hour after the last addition 121 oz of bleach and read 34 ppm FC at 9:15 PM. Tested this morning at 5:45 AM and read 31.5 ppm. I know this doesn't meet the <1 ppm overnight loss, but I'm wondering if the 2.5...

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

Re: Is it time for me to Shock my pool? Thanks for the link. I've probably read that a dozen times and will probably read it another dozen in the next few days. Test for FC at 8:15 and got a reading of 29.5 ppm. I thought it would be higher after adding 3 gallons of 8.25%. I imagine the sun...

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

Re: Is it time for me to Shock my pool? Quick update. I ran out of R0871 during my test at noon but I could tell the chlorine was low so I turned on the chlorinator while I was at work. Came home, got my R0871 refill and retested. Chlorine level read 23 ppm. 3 more bottles of 8.25% in shortly...

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

Re: Is it time for me to Shock my pool? I just checked my FC level and I'm sitting at 30 ppm. The algae is pretty much non existent at this point. Additional brushing didn't seem to stir up any algae like before. The water is a bit cloudy now. I'll retest in the morning and proceed from there.

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

Re: Is it time for me to Shock my pool? Yes I do have a Taylor K2006 kit. I've got more R0871 coming tomorrow so that I can keep up with the test demands. I've held off on doing the Shock until today due to some heavy rains. The algae got much worse after the rain as well. I didn't want to...

Is it time for me to Shock my pool? *OCLT #3 Complete PASS!!!

You'll have to excuse my ignorance and what I am sure are questions that have been answered. This is my first year with the pool and my first experience with algae. A few weeks ago I started noticing green algae blooms in the shaded portion of my pool. I maintained the pool throughout the...

How concerned with Saturation Index should I be?

I just completed my weekly level check (K2006) and came up with the following results: FC 7 PH 7.4 TA 50 CH 180 CYA 80 Salt 3500 ppm Plugging my numbers into the PoolMatch calculator I come up with a SI -1.12. Reading the Taylor manual, this is bad. Now that the water temperatures have dropped...

Big difference b/w Local Pool Store vs Taylor K2006 (DIY) Chemistry Readings

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not certain what type of test they were performing. It was not automated. The reagent box looked a bit like the Taylor K2006, but much larger and orange. The water samples were placed into small vials and dropped into a small machine (a colorimeter?). In hindsight...

Big difference b/w Local Pool Store vs Taylor K2006 (DIY) Chemistry Readings

Out of curiosity, I took a pool water sample to my local pool chemical store for testing. I wanted to see how their numbers compared to my own, Taylor K2006. The sample I gave the pool store was no more than 15 minutes old. Here's what they came back with: FC 3.24 ppm PH 7.9 CH 300 ppm TA 40...

Pentair EasyTouch not turning off SuperFlo VS Pump per the schedule.....

I think I may have found an important piece of the puzzle. I was just browsing the pump manual and noticed this: "When a Speed Digital Input is triggered, the LED above the Speed button will begin to blink and the display will toggle between the display parameter and “EC” indicating an External...

Pentair EasyTouch not turning off SuperFlo VS Pump per the schedule.....

I appreciate the help Jim and I think you've read my mind. When I got home today from work I snapped a few pictures of the panel with cover off. I'll attach them below. My memory was correct and the pump does have the optional control wiring allowing the, just as you described, 5v control...

First test results with a new pool. How am I looking?

Great news. Apparently my PH was very high, as many of you suggested. I did a PH demand test and it indicated that I would require almost a gallon of muriatic acid to get in back in line. I added the gallon and retested today. I'm very happy to say that the PH was in the 7.4-7.5 range. I...

Pentair EasyTouch not turning off SuperFlo VS Pump per the schedule.....

Yes *I think* it does, although I may be mistaken since I'm not standing next to it right now. I do believe it has the external control wiring kit which allows the pump to accept a 5v signal for each of the 4 speeds. It has got me puzzled. The Pentair documentation is not very clear so I may be...

Pentair EasyTouch not turning off SuperFlo VS Pump per the schedule.....

I'm very new to the pool world and recently had an IG pool installed with an EasyTouch control system coupled with a SuperFlo VS pump. My pump is currently programmed to run at 1800 RPM, 24 hrs a day. In an attempt to get my chlorine levels in check and save some energy I've decided to cut that...
