    Cover Motor

Circling back around on this one for advice, (Thanks for your reply Bama Rambler), I haven't bought the replacement motor yet. I did take the housing apart and the pool guys were right, there is a lot of slack rope just laying around in the box. The cover is all the way extended too, so I...

    Cover Motor

Thanks Dave, yes it is a Coverstar. I know I have power to the open/close switch and also out at the motor but I didn't test the actual motor. Thanks for the advice! Much appreciated.

    Cover Motor

My motor went out last fall. Thank goodness the pool was already closed for the winter. The cover is currently completely extended out in the closed position. I've had 2 companies tell me not to try to install the pool cover motor by myself because it's not just a simple motor swap, you have to...

    Maintenance needed...

Thanks for that information. I saw the threaded plug last night. I will shut the valves off, bleed the air out, and then unscrew that plug to see if it leaks a lot. I'm sure some water will come out. Thanks for everyone's help!

    Maintenance needed...

Thanks for the reply. You are correct, the pump is below the level of the water. All of the parts (pump, heater, etc.) are all inside a maintenance panel for easy access and everything is below the water level. So, in addition to your last instructions to "shut off the pool, open the vent on the...

    Maintenance needed...

Good morning, I need to change the shaft seals for my pump. My manual states that I can push my gate valves ("T-handles")(I have 2 of them) down and turn to lock them, and that will enable me to work on the plumbing? The last time I tried this water kept coming out of the lines, but after it...

Numbers check and a few questions please

The vitamin C tablets took the stain away in that area. I tested in several spots and it took it off. I went ahead and bought some ascorbic acid but haven't gotten the other few things I will need. I am on a well, and our water is very high in iron. Would it help if I added some Metal Control...

Numbers check and a few questions please

Well, I held the puck in one spot for 4 minutes, then for 1 more minute I lightly "scraped" around in that same area. No change at all, it didn't remove or lighten the stain in any way. Also wanted to add that there are slight stains on the bottom and steps, just not as bad or noticeable. I also...

Numbers check and a few questions please

Hi basod, I should have been more descriptive in my first post. The stains are literally all over the whole walls, brownish color I guess, from top to bottom, but not on the floor of the pool. And where the 2 "rings" are just much more darker in color. It's frustrating because we have beautiful...

Numbers check and a few questions please

Thanks for the reply and the information. When speaking with a rep from HTH, they advised adding 3 bottles (96 ounces) of Metal Control and then scrub later. This made NO impact on the stains at all. It didn't even reduce them a little. I haven't had a chance for the vitamin c test and I...

Numbers check and a few questions please

Thank you for your help. Just for information in case anyone else is wondering the same thing, I did see that HTH is open 7 days per week, so I called them. Their recommendation for both the metal control and the clarifier is 30 minutes per quart used. Opps, sorry, I meant CC, not TC for that ...

Numbers check and a few questions please

Hello, When we purchased this house last October, the pool was in pretty rough shape. Once getting the numbers where they needed to be, I wanted to start focusing on removing the stains. The walls have 2 "rings", one at the current water level and one where the previous owners let the pool...

Cheers everyone. I hope all is well. I've already been getting a lot of great information on this site for a few months now but am just getting around to joining TFP. We bought a house back in October that has what I "think" they call a volleyball pool. It is 30' x 15' and was in moderate shape...
