Fixing a broken 2"45 degree fitting

I am actually thinking of doing exactly that. Should I use a plumber or pool service guy?

Fixing a broken 2"45 degree fitting

Hmmmm this is interesting. I have been thinking about this as cutting out the 45 and needing to extend the pipe back to the original length so I can use another 45 short piece of pipe and coupling. It might actually work if I use two 45 (one backwards) on each pipe and a 90 to tie everything...

Fixing a broken 2"45 degree fitting

I am/was trying to avoid breaking the cement back any farther. The pipes are all laid in cement and getting under it is royal pain the back side. I was hoping there was a product in existence that I was unaware of that would extend the short of piece of pipe sticking out of the cement.

    Troubleshooting a suction issue

I am a complete newb but I had the exact sample problem. Take what I have to say with a grain of salt. I had a cracked pipe in the suction side near the pad. There was a small void that would fill with water. The suction of the pump would pull water from the void until it was empty then start...

Fixing a broken 2"45 degree fitting

Re: Fixing a broken 2"45 degree fitting Other questions of importance, any idea what that copper wire is? Some sort of ground? Do those pipes need to be in concrete? I was thinking of just back-filing with sand. P.S. you can see the remains of a Cop-of-Noodles in one of the pictures. -...

Fixing a broken 2"45 degree fitting

I have a cracked 2" 45 degree fitting that needs to be replaced. The problem is the pipe is in cement. I broke away enough cement to expose the fitting and cut it out. The problem I have is if I put a new 45 on the pipe will be shorter and not line up properly. I figured I would ask the pros...

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

I think I identified the problem. There appears to be an underground leak on the suction side. I think tree roots partially broke or separated the suction line. A void is now present in the clay soil that slowly fills up with water when the pump is off. When I turn the pump on, it does its...

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

I will try and post a video. I am starting to think you guys think I am crazy :D I promise there is no vortex in the skimmer. The pump does not lose 100% prime maybe 50% then rapidly gets worse. When I start the pump their is air in the system. Then about 95-100% of the air goes away, then...

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

I will try and post a video when the sun comes out. Here are some pictures, plz excuse the shaving cream. http://imgur.com/a/oPxmP I replaced the shaft seal last week and there is no leaks on the pressure side, other then a small one on the booster pump(only when booster is on).

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

I tried removing the float in the skimmer, which to my understanding basically shuts off the main. The problem did not go away. When the pump about 50% loses prime is starts to surge a bit. I know I am probably grasping at straws

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

No vortexing in the skimmer and I do not see any flexible pipe. I learned the main is tied into the skimmer. The skimmer has two ports and the one closest to the pool is where the main is tied into the filter. There is a flying saucer looking thing that goes into the skimmer that is0 suppose...

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

Thanks again I do not have a weir door on my skimmer (i just googled weir door on skimmer to find out what one is) and I only have 1 skimmer. When I get home for work, I will try to manually snake the main drain to see if I can dislodge anything. Should I snake it under vacuum?

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

I think the problem is a clogged main line. Please correct me if I am wrong I stuck a plumbers bladder down the pump to see if what would happen. I could see and feel a good amount of water flow out of the skimmer. I jumped in the pool to see if I could feel anything coming out of the main and...

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

Thanks for the tips and ideas. I have one skimmer and it has very very strong suction (almost sucked my hand off), but no vortex I changed the drain o rings on the pump and basket. The problem is still present. Would a clogged main drain cause air bubbles to be present in the...

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

I do not have a suction side cleaner, only the vacuum that runs when the booster pump is on. I also do not have any valves on the suction side to divert the source which the pump draws from.

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

Thanks guys, I read the section about the air leaks, that is where I got started. I guess what I want to ask is why does the leak seemingly disappear then show up after about 20 minutes. Water level is above the skimmer, and strainer basket lid has a brandy new gasket. I will replace...

Pump losing prime after 20 minutes

I have been struggling with my pool pump for the last two weeks but learning a ton. Just moved into the house a few months ago and I never owned an inn ground pool. The pump ran regularly, on a timer, all winter long. Two weeks ago it was a windy few days and I was out of town. A ton of small...
