    Instapark Betta review

After several years with first an NX, then an NX2 (and cobbling together parts from the NX to keep the NX2 going as long as possible) I now need another surface skimmer for our outdoor SWG pool. The surface skimmers really do make a good difference for leaves, pollen and other debris in our...

Any long term users of the Ariel SolarBreeze

Me too. I'm tempted. The sale takes it down to $498, and when I applied the discount code, it reduced further the $398. Trouble is, they add $32 Arizona sales tax, then to ship it to NZ costs almost $500NZD (including an additional %15 sales tax). Yikes. As an owner of a 1st generation Solar...

Is there a salt that’s better than others?

Sodium chloride all the way. Good old, plain NaCl. Accept no substitute or fillers, and the less H2O, the better.

All set - now just waiting for SWCG to arrive!

Without logging every test result here .... After 3d of the above settings (80% X 12 hours run time), with pool cover on and no swimming, but a few leaves in the pool, FC has risen from 5.5 to the sweet spot of 7. Based on that, I've eased the SWCG down to 60% to see if it holds there.

All set - now just waiting for SWCG to arrive!

New EC20 SWCG is up and running! Easy to install. Would have been quicker but I cut too long a gap, so had to add a piece of pipe back in. Also, the smart plug wouldn't pass current, so have connected to the same plug as the pump. I've set it to 80% (it does 20g/hr at 100%), running 12 hours a...

Help with pump and SWG selections

I personally wouldn't bother with expensive addon timer systems and smart boxes that come with the pump and/or SWCG. Especially if you want to save $. Those things are typically overpriced for what they are. Buy a $5 timer plug from the hardware store and run your gear off that. Heck, spend...

    SWCG conversion Payback time

Don't forget to add in number of trousers ruined by splashing bleach on them. I'm up to about 4 pairs now (slow learner).

All set - now just waiting for SWCG to arrive!

Thanks all - great suggestions. Yes, will get to adjusting my pool volume in the profile [EDIT: done]. I originally estimated it by measuring the width, depth etc (it's a kidney pool with a sloping shallow to deep end, and a cut out entry - so lots of fiddly bits). I've now adjusted that down...

All set - now just waiting for SWCG to arrive!

Am mostly set with the chemistry in our 50,000L plaster pool to convert from liquid chlorine to SWCG. FC 5, TA 70, CYA 63, CH 290, salt 3499, pH 7.7. Am adding boric acid this weekend, aiming for 40ppm (bit worried about killing bees tho - not that I've seen any come to drink). I also plan to...

Considering moving to SWCG - Laswim EC20?

Heh :) - I may yet have to go for weight of numbers with two 20g chlorinators in series. As an outdoor pool with quite a bit of leafy debris, the pool seems clearer since increasing pump time to 12 hours per day at lower flow with the VSD200 (which the linked article speaks to). I haven't done...

Considering moving to SWCG - Laswim EC20?

Update. I've decided to go with the EC20. My calculations and reading of Aussie pool forums (where it's warmer and sunnier) suggests I'll need around 130g/d of chlorine production in my pool. This equates to ~7 hours of the EC20 (20g/hr) running at 100%. Given I like to run my VSD for 12 hours...

Considering moving to SWCG - Laswim EC20?

I've spent the last few days avidly reading up on SWCG options, which are limited at present as; a) I live in NZ and b) many of the commonly quoted options here on Amazon are currently sold out. Basically our liquid chlorine & acid feeder (Chemigem DM52) has annoyed me for the last time. Given...

Dolphin s300i OK on rough pool surface?

An update: received the s300i on Friday and it's already been through the pool several times. It seems to be doing a great job on the walls, waterline and floor, with suitably thorough coverage. While it doesn't get the entry shelf area in our pool, that's a 1 minute job with the brush anyway...

Dolphin s300i OK on rough pool surface?

Agreed re: marketing materials and models (an oft-commented issue with Maytronics). Here is the reference for NZ: https://www.mydolphin.co.nz/compare-all-models/ which indicates the s200 has a swivel cable (and, in typical Maytronics/Dolphin fashion I can't find the reference for s300i, but...

Dolphin s300i OK on rough pool surface?

Update: I phoned Maytronics local office and they confirmed the 'S' series is not only fine, but well designed for concrete/plaster pools. So, I have ordered the s300i, and will report back on impressions in due course. Was tempted to pay a few hundred more and get the m500, but the larger...

Dolphin s300i OK on rough pool surface?

We are trying to decide which dolphin robot for our 10m x 4m, 35000L kidney-shaped pool. I've been advised by our local dealer, who carries both the S and the M lines that the S are not meant for rough pool surfaces, and he is recommending the m400 over the s200 or s300i. Our render is not...
