Current readings. Taylor test PH 7.5. TFTEST FC = 1. CC = 0. TA 190 CYA 40 ish + Calciium harness 0. Mostly concerned about the PH. I don't know how the pool store could screw that up that much! Water is clear and feels good.

I think you are correct. I do suspect I am either VERY close or on top of it now. it is sunny and I have only lost 3.5 fc and cc is lat a trace in about 4 hours. Pool is crystal clear. Again THANK YOU all for encouragement, etc. Pics soon (if I ever get done with the chore list).

So, after an hour and half I have lost 3 ppm chlorine. FC 17, CC .5. Getting there. Still going through chlorine pretty fast but slowing down.

Will do. Work has been getting in the way... so, 3:30 (after bumping to 20 ppm @ 11:30) FC9.5, CC .5. I should be able to check at a minimum every two hours for a bit. So chlorine is still going fast but the cc seems to moving down.

11:30 - FC = 3 CC= 1. Close I hope.

When I came back from adding chlorine, test turned pink again (it had sat for 10 min ) and took two drops to make it clear. So, 3.5 cc probably. Interesting.

better! 10:20 - 8 fc 2.5 cc. tomorrow.... if pool makes it through the night!

Dates are all either 15 or 16. Possibly testing error. I will be testing again in an hour and more will be known. Thanks for assistance!

8:45 - just over one hour. 5.5 fc 4 cc. cc is not moving and chlorine is getting used faster! More in a hour or so.

Start of Slam tonight. After two hours FC fell from 16 to 8. CC 4. CYA 40 ish. 70 degree pool. added another gal of chlorine to get up to 16. we will see what it after two hours and then again in the morning!

Thank you BoDarville. I also have a Teledyne Laars Series One Heater. I hope it lasts a few more years. I suspect it is very old. Starting SLAM this evening.

Old pump was a 1hp marlow and psi was about 18 psi. Old pool store thought 1/2 hp would be plenty.

Thanks for response! Pentair superflo vs. swg does not have a bypass and is after the sand filter. Swg just starts at about 1750. Psi at 1750 is about 8 and at 2500 about 15. I have not check at highest speed. I agree 1750 seems high for 20 gpm
