How Many 5G Intellibrites (color) With Ocean Blue PS (i.e. dark plaster)??

Re: How Many 5G Intellibrites (color) With Ocean Blue PS (i.e. dark plaster)?-UPDATED Hi all! Just thought I'd resurrect this thread to follow-up with some nighttime pics of my pool in case anyone was wondering how many lights to install. We love the amount of lights we have and it makes for...

UPDATED: Broken Conduit Plugged - Still Leaking??

Re: UPDATED: Conduit Under Baja Shelf Most Likely Ruined - Jackhammer the Plaster to Does anyone know how much evaporation is normal during the winter when the air temp during the day was in the low to mid 50's yesterday, during the night in the upper 30's, and with no wind? We've lost about...

Re: UPDATED: Conduit Under Baja Shelf Most Likely Ruined - Jackhammer the Plaster to Thanks so much for your help, Brian. I sent you a pm with my phone number. The contractor was going to come back to continue to try to unblock the conduit in both pipes, but we told him not to come back right...

UPDATED: Broken Conduit Plugged - Still Leaking??

Re: Conduit Under Baja Shelf Most Likely Ruined - Jackhammer the Plaster to Fix? Here's the area in question. Here's a pic of how the pipes run underneath. We don't know where he broke it along the run (the sweep maybe or where the sweep meets the pipe?), but we think he was using a drill...

UPDATED: Broken Conduit Plugged - Still Leaking??

Re: Conduit Under Baja Shelf Most Likely Ruined - Jackhammer the Plaster to Fix? Thanks for responding, Gwegan. It would most likely be sooner than 5 years because we've already had to replace all 3 Pentair lighted bubblers in less than a year because they were defective. The owner of the...

UPDATED: Broken Conduit Plugged - Still Leaking??

Hi all. I'm hoping for some expert advice. So we have 3 Pentair lighted bubblers on our baja shelf. 2 of the lights failed and need replacing. Unfortunately the pool plaster company didn't cover up the conduit when they plastered the pool (plaster was done in January) so the conduit is full...

    800 a bag for abalone?

Curiouspool, I have Midnight Blue mini pebble Stonescapes (actually darker than Midnight Blue because they removed some of the blue pebbles from the mix before plastering) and love the abalone in it. As far whether there is staining or not, I can't tell because the plaster is so dark. As far...

    800 a bag for abalone?

No way. We paid $200/bag (used 3 bags for our 29,000 gallon pool) and we weren't given any discount by the plaster company we used (we were O/B) BUT it was in our contract. I know add-ons are where PBs try to make a bigger profit, but charging $800/bag is ridiculous in my opinion.

The Final Straw - Tile/Plaster Expertise Appreciated

Thanks so much, everyone, for your help and support! Well, I'm getting used to the fact that my water isn't exactly the blue I wanted and that the tile is a different blue than the water. I'm also learning to take it all in together rather than focus on any one thing (tile color vs. water...

The Final Straw - Tile/Plaster Expertise Appreciated

Thanks, Brian. I think we're still going to install the spa side remote, but outside the spa, because my husband is blind and he can control the spa himself with the remote but can't use the screenlogic. So true about PB and OB experiences. There's no guarantee with either. - - - Updated - - -

The Final Straw - Tile/Plaster Expertise Appreciated

Since it sounds like it's impossible to retile without damaging the plaster do you think I could replaster without retiling?

The Final Straw - Tile/Plaster Expertise Appreciated

We saved zero cash on this job being OB. With the thought that a pool builder might have been able to prevent some of the issues we had we decided to pay a premium and use a licensed, experienced pool plaster company to finish it off since we were sick of dealing with problems and wanted no...

The Final Straw - Tile/Plaster Expertise Appreciated

Hi, Brian. The plaster company fixed the cracks. Since it's not possible to retile without replastering is it possible to replaster without retiling? Honestly, in person, there's no way the pool color comes close to matching or complementing the tile.

The Final Straw - Tile/Plaster Expertise Appreciated

Thanks, Patrick. I can handle the water or the tile, just not the 2 together, but I guess it's all mine now. I pretty much figured it would be too hard to just change the tile, but thought I'd ask anyway. Here's a close-up of the plaster. It does look like there are a few brown pieces in it...

The Final Straw - Tile/Plaster Expertise Appreciated

My pool experience hasn't been as great as others I've read about on TFP. In fact, it's truly been a case of whatever could go wrong has. BUT I thought I'd finally gotten past the dark days of my build and was looking forward to the "cherry on top" (aka the plaster) to bring it all together...

Attaching an Overflow Line to a Skimmer?

Does anyone know the proper way to attach an overflow line to a Waterway Renegade Venturi gunite skimmer? There's nothing in the instructions about how to attach it and when I called Waterway the person I talked to didn't seem to know. Here's what I plan on doing: 1. Drill out the hole in...

EXCESSIVE CRACKING (70+ cracks) in Shotcrete (trying to remain calm)

Thanks, Amanda. I expected problems (no job goes smoothly), but this is beyond my expectations and not in a good way. :( Lol. Sorry, I wasn't clear in my explanation. The water is from me when I was watering down the shotcrete. :D I wanted to post the picture of the boot print to find out...

EXCESSIVE CRACKING (70+ cracks) in Shotcrete (trying to remain calm)

Maybe the shotcrete being so wet explains the 1 1/2" deep footprint I sprained my ankle on when I stepped on it as I was watering the pool the day after it was shot. I was surprised to see such a deep depression.

EXCESSIVE CRACKING (70+ cracks) in Shotcrete (trying to remain calm)

Thanks everyone for all your responses/support. Bdavis466 got me looking at timelines further. I'm wondering if the last shotcrete truck that was sent was too "old" because I noticed that they were adding water to the truck the entire time they were shooting. The only batch ticket I have is...

EXCESSIVE CRACKING (70+ cracks) in Shotcrete (trying to remain calm)

Hi, gwegan. When my husband spoke with Ron on the phone and offered to pay him to come out to our house he didn't seem too interested, but maybe we can ask again. (I think he wanted us to contact plasterers first to see what they said.) Luckily we do have his recommendations in writing...

New Owner Builder Pool/Spa in SoCal Wine Country UPDATED WITH PICS

Hi, Spool. Sorry it's taken me so long to reply and to update my build. I work full-time, have a mother on hospice, am a DIY who is still finishing the build of my house and in my spare time trying to get this pool done. :) OB is not for the faint-hearted let me tell you. I just started a...

EXCESSIVE CRACKING (70+ cracks) in Shotcrete (trying to remain calm)

Hi All. We have about 70 cracks in our shotcrete floor (I kid you not), from around 1' to 2' long. (We're owner-builder.) We did everything right: Watered the shotcrete 4+ times a day for 7 days. It also rained all day for 2 of the 7 days and the humidity was high 6 out of the 7 days. Like...

New Owner Builder Pool/Spa in SoCal Wine Country UPDATED WITH PICS

Thanks so much for your input! I'd much rather have the overflow attached to the skimmer rather than have an opening just under the coping, which is where the plumbers were saying to put it. I just went outside and looked at the skimmers and...WOOHOO...the shotcrete guys left an opening for a...

New Owner Builder Pool/Spa in SoCal Wine Country UPDATED WITH PICS

Thanks, Kim! We were thinking about Red Sockeye quartzite for the coping to complement the pavers we already have on our patio (and that we're going to continue as decking around the pool). I know that flagstone and SWG aren't the best mix so I thought that going with a stronger flagstone like...
