    Different sand sizes

The All Star sand says 20/40 gradation and the HTH does say the grade. This is what I found in the filter's manual.

    Different sand sizes

Hi, I'm gather the material to swap out the sand on my Pentair Tritton II TR 140 sand filter. Went to one local hardware store last night and got the last seven bags of pool sand they had. Today I went by a different chain and bought what they had. So now I have almost enough. When I got...

    Sand Suggestions?

Thanks for the details. Going try SLAM again I don't give too much thought to cyanic acid. I empty a lot of water out over winter and with the back washing and refills it stays low. Not say they it couldn't creep up. It just hasn't. I betting that happens more the further south you go...

    Variable Speed Pool Pumps

Single speeds are cheaper up front. In some areas like mine, there's not a rebate from the power company and the cost savings takes a while to justify it the higher upfront cost.

    Sand Suggestions?

Right now my tests shows 2 to 4 chlorine, 7.2 ish PH, 120 alk, and I'm out of test for CA but pool store showed it at 40. I don't test for hardness.

    Sand Suggestions?

SLAM I'm familiar with but not OCTL. My fear with SLAM is fading the liner, but I've done it with before. I'll have to look up OCTL

    Variable Speed Pool Pumps

I agree that low speeds it is quiet, but 1200 doesn't work for every one. I switched from a 3hp single speed motor. I tried the lower speeds and I found that my in line chlorine feeder wasn't getting enough flow to keep the chlorine level up.

    Variable Speed Pool Pumps

I went with a SuperFlo VS pump for my pool. Works well. I like the controls and the savings. IntelliFlo would have been better but I couldn't justify the cost. My only complaint is the noise. This is only my second pool pump ever so I don't have much to compare it too. Both were pretty loud IMO.

    Sand Suggestions?

Hi All, Looking for suggestions, I have TR 140 filter, it holds 900+ lbs of sand. It seems to have lost of ability it filter out the finer particles. The water is mostly just cloudy, but does a brown\green tint to it. It's so bad you can barely say the bottom at 3'. I've shocked and vacuumed...

    Sand Filter media

Just an update for anyone that might be interested. Pools nearly perfect now there is still more than normal sentiment settling at the bottom but nothing anyone other than me would notice The DE was doing its job but I could tell it was going to take several day to get it clear. After bout 24...

    Sand Filter media

DE for the pool should be here tomorrow. Let's hope that does the trick. From what I've read I add a little to a skimmer till the filter pressure goes up by one psi. Vacuuming seems to just stir up the cloudiness more. Its almost like there's no filter there. If the pressure didn't go up when...

    Sand Filter media

Hi all, Pool's been looking good all summer, then one day a couple of weeks ago it started getting a little cloudy and it's just gone downhill since. Had a massive algae outbreak that took too much effort to get under control. And even after that I can't get the water to clear up. The water...

Hi I broke off one of the elbows on the chlorine feeder. I went up to the local hardware and found a couple elbows in the sprinkler section, brought it back and installed them. I replaced both elbows while I was at it. Fast forward a couple of weeks and now one is cracked and the other is...

    Wiring a pump

Hi Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't seem to find the answer. I'm hooking up a Pentair supoerflo vs 342001 to 220. The whip has red-hot, black-hot, copper ground and white neutral. The pump only has line 1 and 2, and ground. What am I supposed to do with the neutral? Since it...

I was looking at that same model and have been going back and forth between it and the Superflo VS. Today I called a couple of places. My usual place had the best price but only has the the Intelliflo 2. They are asking $1500 for it, installed, or $1150 for the Superflo VS. i'm going to bite...

My pumps about 12 years old. Yep it's been around for a while. It's a 2hp pentair, not sure of the exact model. A couple of days ago it's started shutting off and turning back on by itself. It's overheating. I tried the easy fixes, but I'm thinking it's probably time replace the whole thing...

    Pentair Metal Halide Problem

Hello new to the forum but I've been lurking a reading a bit. Just bought a house with a pool. I'd used the pool calculator to get the pool chemistry up to par and everything with the pool itself seem to be fine except the light. When we bought the house I assumed the bulb was burnt out...
