    Hayward cartridge filter tie rod

Hi, I was curious to see if this has happened to any other pool owners that own a Hayward cartridge filter. The filter is approximately 3 and a half years old. Over the past year, the tie rod has become very rusty. Any explanation as to how this could have happened? Here is a link to the...

    Leslie's Fresh & Clear

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows the aftereffects of Leslie's Fresh & Clear. For example, using calc hypo increases the calcium level in the water. The active ingredients are 36% potassium peroxymonosulfate. Thanks in advance.

    Love skimmer socks.

Leslie's Pool was selling 3 for $5. I went to Walmart to buy a square yard of the material from the fabric department and cut a small piece of it to fit the skimmer. I put a rubber band around the opening to keep it in place. So far, it works great and it's a LOT cheaper. My two cents.

    Air bubbles coming from returns

From what I can tell, you have an air leak someplace. I have a very similar problem and I tracked it down to my chlorinator lid. Actually, this is my second air leak. With the help of a coworker, he showed me how to do it. We took duct tape and tape all the places where air could get in...

    Hayward vs. Pentair chlorinator

Hi, currently I have the Hayward inline chlorinator CL200 and it is about 3 years old. Right now, the O ring in the cap needs to be replaced. I talked to a couple of the local pool stores about buying an O ring replacement. They mentioned the Pentair Rainbow 320 is a better chlorinator than...

New fiberglass pool - how long until I can pour deck?

When my fiberglass pool was installed three years ago, the pool builder waited 2 - 3 weeks before pouring the cement. He said he wanted the pool to settle before pouring. Hope this helps. Good luck.

    air leak in pump?

Hi, I have an air leak someplace in my inground pool. I am hoping that it is aboveground. I have placed duct tape around most of the PVC fittings and placed heavy plastic around the valves. So far, no luck. I recalled reading on one of these posts that sometimes air leak may occur at the...

    fiberglass pool blistering

Thanks for the reply. Have either of you noticed the blisters getting bigger? Or maybe more blisters appearing? Besides the feel of the blisters when you run your hand across the surface, has it caused any other problems? Thanks in advance. I will be calling the manufacturer tomorrow.

    fiberglass pool blistering

Hi, This is my third year with my fiberglass pool. This past weekend, I feel some areas of the pool wall had dozens of small bumps. I just goggled on "blisters on fiberglass walls" and from reading some of the articles, it sounds this will happen to every fiberglass pool sooner or later...

    R-0871 drops

Hi, I bought a Taylor FAS-DPD test kit last week and I was testing the chlorine. I put two dippers of the DPD powder and the water turned reddish. Afterwards, I added the R-0871 reagent drop by drop. I counted 30 drops before I stopped. The solution still did not turn clear yet. Is this...

    Liquid chlorine burnoff using Liquidator

Hi, I have a question regarding the liquid chlorine burnoff. I don't know if burnoff is the correct term. I am interested in buying a Liquidator. However, I live in Florida and the sun hits the pool a good ten hours of the day. I was concerned that the liquid chlorine would lose its potency...

    Liquid Chlorine / Bleach effects

Hi, I bought two jugs of liquid chlorine this weekend at Leslie's to shock my pool and the salesperson told me that using this much liquid chlorine would increase the pH. Therefore, I had to use muriatic acid to offset the pH increase. I have looked through various posts regarding BBB and...

Solar Panels Hi, MeSue. Once you get everything installed and working, can you post your findings out on the forum? I would love to hear them since I am also considering solar. And the cost doesn't look too bad, either. Thanks in advance.

    Shelf Life for Liquid Chlorine

Hi, Does anyone know what the shelf life is for liquid chlorine? Occasionally, Leslie's runs a sale on chlorine. Refill 2 jugs and get 1 for free. Instead of having the chlorine sitting inside my house go to waste, I rather pour it into the pool. Thanks.
