convert a free standing grill to a built in?

The reason I purchased the Bull was due to the fact that the salesman raved about its construction. I did not want something that would rust after one winter. We have a dry climate in Colorado but winters have my island covered in snow for some of the time. There were grills that were in the...

convert a free standing grill to a built in?

Mitch, I looked into doing this as well as the sticker shock of the built-in was overwhelming at first. I spoke to a few different people at patio stores that sold both and was advised that there are pretty significant differences between the two types of grills. It really sunk in when my...

    Island in Colorado

Sorry for the lack of posts. Summer has kept us busy. Nevertheless, here are some pictures of the island. The dryvit synthetic stucco went on quite easily. (thanks ArvadaBBQ for the suggestion and location here in Denver to purchase) Grouting the slate tile was no big deal and the lacquer...

    Island in Colorado

Best of luck with the build AVI. Will watch for the progress. I am enjoying mine but it is certainly taking longer than planned. We have 2 young children so free time is in short supply. We are having plenty of wet weather that seems to be on the weekends only. Nevertheless, attached are...

    Island in Colorado

Spent the day laying 4" x 4" slate tiles as the couter top and my poor math caused me to run out before getting to the backsplash. (rookie mistake) Will head back to the tile store in the AM and pick up the rest. Decided to go with the Dryvit stucco for the front, sides and back. That is next...

    Island in Colorado

Spent the weekend running wires for 3 outlets (2 on the back splash and one GFI in the lower left cabinet) and attaching the hardi backer. Rains came again in the late afternoon today so I could not get it completely enclosed. Guess I will see where the low spots are and if any water...

    Island in Colorado

Cobra- they used moss rock from that area and from what my brother in law confirmed tonight, it has held up great. (15+ years) We lined the entire back edge of the pool and used it for the waterfall as well. Arvada- thanks for the tip.

    Island in Colorado

Thanks for the insight Dawg. Enjoyed reading your posts on your build and will certainly take your advice on the stucco. I hope to be there after this next weekend of hardi work. Cobra- yes, the frame is now sitting on Trex feet. One of the many ideas that I pulled from this site but had not...

    Island in Colorado

Reading all these posts has been very inspiring as well as helpful in the planning stages for my build. This is my first go at it but I am enjoying the steps so far. Although it is still early. My project is a corner island that will house a Bull Angus (30") 4 burner grill. The island will...
