Newly installed 2HP Hayward Super Pump

Welcome to TFP! May I ask who installed this new pump? I ask because not only was the threaded adapter not sealed properly to the pump outlet (pipe dope, Teflon tape, etc), but because there is no union to allow easy removal, the pipe above must be cut somewhere to allow you to unscrew...

Is this mold? Never seen this before

Humm, I wonder if that heater has a copper core? If it's corroding, that might explain the spotting.

Small Leak Near Pump Pad After Heavy Rain

Welcome to TFP! With any type of surface (concrete, asphalt, etc), it's generally best to seal any cracks to prevent moisture from seeping down into the base below. It's that settled moisture that can disrupt the base material, especially in places with large temp changes. You're...

Is this mold? Never seen this before

Humm. I wouldn't think mold in that environment with chlorine, but I could be wrong. I'm more curious if the pool tech added some junk to the water that may have caused that spotting.

    Jandy diverter screw slot cracked

Welcome to TFP! It looks like only the outer portion of the screw housing is exposed, so you might be okay for a while. As long as the lid is still pulled down tightly and the screw housing isn't cracked on this inside (behind the screw), it may not leak. If this is on the pressure...

Results after testing while opening the pool

For now, only add about 10 ppm worth of stabilizer because it appears you may need to go into the . If you aren't sure about algae, do the , but based on the looks of the water, I think a SLAM is in order. If you do have to perform the SLAM, you'll lower the pH to about 7.2 first anyway...

    Costco HTH Super Shock

To add to JD's comment, make sure you are aware of your current levels. If your CH is high, you probably don't want to use Cal-hypo. You probably get your water from the Edwards Aquifer, so you know how hard your local water is already. Also, using cal-hypo means knowing what your CYA...

    SLAMing and not holding chlorine

Welcome to TFP! Several things you noted are contradictory to TFP philosophy and how we treat/manage algae, so I'll lay it out as clear as I can: - Algae can only be killed by applying the correct free chlorine-to-stabilizer ratio (FC-CYA) as noted on the . I can just about guarantee...

    Salwater Pool Opening

Aside form that questionable CYA, looks pretty good. Yes, the TA is a bit elevated, but your CSI is still negative, so as long as the pH isn't shooting upwards fast, it will slowly come down with acid. Perhaps retest the CYA in a couple days to be sure.

DE pressure rising on new pool

Welcome to TFP! The first place for us to start is with a full set of water test results. You'd be surprised what we can learn from those numbers. Do you have a TF-100/Pro-Series test kit, or maybe a Taylor K-2006C?

    Filter cartridge and pollen

I have a C-1200 single cart filter as well for our ~18K pool. My cart lasts a good 8-10 years. I finally bought a new one not because of torn pleats or discoloration, but because over the years the paper wasn't allowing good flow-through anymore. This single cart filter does fine and I clean...
