    POOL BONDING

Thanks for the info. I am aware that the codes definitely will be different on either side of the border but I find often especially with electrical a lot of them are somewhat similar. It seems with the pool stuff though it’s stricter up here. Thanks

    POOL BONDING

Has bonding been around for a long time or is it in the last 20 years or something? I have a pool that was built in the early 70's. I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada. I don't see any sign of bonding on the pump base or ladder or diving board but was just curious if its a newer code or if anyone...

    Timer/Heater/pump question

In regards to your T-stat Idea. Thats where you would want to buy a solar controller. They would do everything you want. But they are not cheap. I have seen some posts on people making their own as well using sprinker valves and furnace t-stats etc.

    Timer/Heater/pump question

I presume your heat pump has nothing to do with this question then correct as it would be tied into your normal pump filter system? If that is the case then most solar controllers have the abilty to add a relay or come with a relay to control a valve and a booster pump. So in your case the realy...

    PVC Schedule 40 - GVS 65

On your thinking that your neighbours use abs on there systems. I thought the same thing with mine because the pipes were black but they were actually just painted sched 40 pipe. Just something to note if you are going by visual alone from the ground. If you aren’t then please ignore :)

    PVC Schedule 40 - GVS 65

I almost bought that stuff as well as my local homedepot and lowes don't carry 2" Sched 40. I ended up just paying a bit more and going through a pool store as comparing the 2 the vent pipe just seems to be thinner then regular schedule 40 as well as stated above it doesn't have a pressure...

    Solar plumbing ups and downs

Thanks. If I have to it that way should I not then put a small hole in the 3 way valve to let the system drain or should I still do that regardless of my supply side setup? How important is that? thanks

    Solar plumbing ups and downs

I have thought about going under it and it might be possible. Just have to pull all the soffit off underneat the porch roof but I would still have to drill through the brick into my garage and then the same to get back out which I really don't want to do that much. If I were to put a T in where...

should I kick myself? didn't run enough power to the pool?

It won't use less power if you wire it 220 but will definitly draw less current. You can wire it 220 with the wire you already buried you would just have to change your hook ups at each end. you would need to wire the pump for 220 and also change your breaker to a doublepole gfi. You would just...

    Solar plumbing ups and downs

Re: Solar Panel Parallel install multi patches One thing to note as well I kind of hijacked this thread a bit I should have created a new one. I am not the same person who created the thread.. I am not going to be jumping on 3 different roofs. All my panels will just be on that one side of the...

    Solar plumbing ups and downs

Re: Solar Panel Parallel install multi patches Sorry my drawing isn't very descriptive... Actually the garage is set out from the house so I do have to go up to get to the roof of it. The pipes going across the house would be sitting on the flashing between the varanda roof and the house. If...

    Solar plumbing ups and downs

Re: Solar Panel Parallel install multi patches Unfortuanlty in my case I can't run them at ground level. The picture is actually the front of the house and was planning to run them across the top of the porch roof which is at the same height as the garage roof. I cant go ground level as that...

    Solar plumbing ups and downs

Hi, Just to add to this one on the ups and downs to avoid. Can I do as in the picture? The way I have to run the pipes is that the are at the top of the pitch of my garage roof but the feed pipe would have to then run down the slope of the roof to feed the panels at the bottom. The top return...

    Solar plumbing question

Thanks for the input. I was planning to do it in parallel. I was thinking i would just do it in 2 phases. First the garage roof and later this year or next I would do the others on the higher roof and would plump in parallel. I have read in places that the extra head needed to pump up roofs is...

    Solar plumbing question

Question. in my case for solar it looks like I have to use my garage and second story roof. My question and problem I think is that the water from the pump will be going up to the second story and then across the roof and to the front of the house and then down a story to the panels on the...

    Plumbing opinions

Hi, Thanks for the reply. And no I have no spa or plan on one at this point. I would like to just ask your opinion on the solar arrangement as well if I can. I will attach a picture. I am using the smart pool version. I can't fit all the collectors in the same place so I have to use two banks...

Thank you very much for the quick replies. I may just leave it out then. my heater has an internal bypass as it states in the manual anyways. its a new hayward eletronic ingnition 250k. Also I have a 1hp super 2 pump so I won't be pushing the limits anyways of max flow. thanks agian for the...

    solar panel plumbing design

One last question.. Can the location of the Check valve be put onto the pipe that is actually leading up to the panels rather then right after the filter? I am just thinking why restrict the flow by going through the CV when the solar unit isn't in use? Does this make sense or is there really...

    Bypass for heater

Hi All, Just a question. I am plumbing in a new heater into my system. 250k btu hayward heater. The diagrams for installing mention nothing of a bypass for the heater but in many diagrams I see there is a bypass of the heater with a valve in it. Is this necessary or not? If it is good is there...

    solar panel plumbing design

Just wondering if I can add a question into this post as it shows my general plan as well. I am putting up some solar panels but am spacing them on opposite ends of the roof as I don't have enough room due to vents etc in one place. I currently have 1.5 plumbing. I am wondering if I should run...
