Am a little confused...in pool school, it says if pool is exposed to lots of direct sunlight, CYA should be 60-80, whereas everywhere else its at 30-50...can someone help clarify? Also, opening pool today...hooray!! Have mesh cover...after vacuuming out stuff on bottom...do I focus on ph, TA...

Just opened...using TFP Test kit...it appears CYA may be zero (black spot in tube never grays out even when tube is full!). Can that happen in one winter? If so, assume this is first thing to tackle or should I start putting bleach in pool immediately (green), OR deal with high ph first...

Having problems with old damaged Hayward skimmer weir doors...A pool repair guy said to put in a floating weir/basket into the existing skimmer basket area and forget the doors! Anyone familiar with this set up and whether it works?

Have remote spa controls and cp3400 inside house controls... Last summer, heat boost button at remote spa stopped working but worked inside the house; other remote spa buttons fine -- spa, lights and jets. Then jet button stopped working too at very end of season, but worked from inside house...

Ok...just discovered you a couple of days ago and am really excited to FINALLY start tking control of my pool. For the last 2 years been struggling with FC issues...32K gallon plaster Anthony/Sylvan pool, 15 years old with DE filter. Opened pool Tuesday, vacuumed up silt re: mesh cover, water...
