How do I know if the seals need to be replaced?

When I went to start the pump after a filter cleaning, the motor hummed so I stopped it. I tried to start it again and it started up. Whew. I had to stop it again because it was not priming and I poured some water in the strainer basket and sealed it all up. I flipped the switch and I got a...

    Help, is my pump dying?

It is a Crystal Clear II from leslie's pool supply. Is muriatic acid necessary to clean the grids? How do I do that? My hubby hates me using acid because it is so caustic and could be dangerous...He barely lets me add it to the pool. =)

    Help, is my pump dying?

I will shock again. I have soaked the grids in some chlorine and water. I do not have any instructions from a manufacturer, this is our first home with a pool...Is there more to cleaning them than just some chlorine and water? UGH. Thank you for the help.

So confused about what is going on? FC 1 CC 1 TC 2? Ph 7.2 TA 110 CH 350 CYA 50 The pump gets up to 26 lbs of pressure and the cleaner will not move. When I let it skim, the filter is still showing 20+ lbs. I have added chlorine, more chlorine and more chlorine. Filter media is clean, just...

    Vacuum port

We are looking to install a vacuum port in the pool. Are there any suggestions? I believe we would need to have it below the water line, but does it need to be a certain depth? Also, I was wondering about flip covers to keep the hole covered while I have swimmers. Do they make such a item or...

We are going to have a port put into the wall for our Navigator. YEAH! :whoot: I am interested in purchasing the CompuPool Salt Water Pool Chlorinator CPSC24 30K Gallon model and installing it at the same time. Does anyone have an opinion on how well this model works? Money is a little tight...

Need help with chem and pool color

Thank you Pool Mom! I will try this in the morning with the pump on... I have been fighting with this for too long and I really would enjoy having everything "in ranges" that are manageable. :-D I did read the TA Lowering in the pool school... I guess I just didn't know that the pump should...

Need help with chem and pool color

Pool Pop: I let the pump run for an hour after the acid dump. I was just reiterating that the pump runs again in the morning. Water bear: Do I need to turn the eyeballs so they do not break the surface of the water?

Need help with chem and pool color

Aeration: I have the return line eyeballs positioned up to break the surface of the water. There are no bubbles or anything but I understood this to be enough to aerate. This is not fresh plaster. As far as I can tell, it has been there a couple of years. (We purchased the house with the pool...

Need help with chem and pool color

HELP!!! I have been lowering the pH level with acid and the TA is not going down, or am I just impatient? I put in one gallon of acid and the TA dropped to 210 (from 270) in a couple of days. Just like Jason said, the pH started rising. I brought it down again with another gallon of acid to 7.2...

Need help with chem and pool color

Thank you for the help... The water is no longer green, it is a lovely blue color. It did not look blue when we purchased the house, but who knows what was going on with the chemistry. (I certainly didn't.) The stats: FC 3 pH 7.5 TA 270 CH 320 CYA 25 For the TA, I added some acid to...

Need help with chem and pool color

The color is the same with the pool full. I just don't remember it having a green-blue color. It is supposed to be pebble. When we purchased the house, it was clear with the pebble showing. Now it looks green-blue. I really like it, but I am afraid it has copper or something...

    Pool lights

Can someone make a suggestion for a light? Our pool is 32 ft. long and 16 wide. The light is in the deep end only. The person coming to plumb the return lines made a suggestion, but I didn't understand. He said the light he would use will last about 10 years and was 500W. Not sure where to look...

    Hockey Season is upon us

Penguins may be tasty, but you have to catch them first! :P Great game from both sides. I cannot believe how quickly those teams move the puck from one end to the other. The Ducks don't move that well on a good day! I must also say the puck handling is really good. If the rest of the games...

    Chlorine generator

Ok...after careful consideration...we are thinking the salt water is not going to kill the already dead grass. I think the abundance of DE on the ground has already disposed of the grass. Due to too much backflushing, we thought the salt would really do the grass in. Now that I realize...
