Jandy IQPUMP01 Controller - Freeze Protection Question

I know this a year old thread but thought I would share my experience with this. I have a 2.7 jandy vs pump and the iqpump01 controller Installed fall 2022. I was concerned about the freeze protection as we had some really cold( 1* f) temperatures. The freeze protection didn’t come on till it...

San Juan dolphin new build questions

I’m sure I can. But I can also get just the fines dust with no gravel. It sure packs good but probably doesn’t allow water to move or drain very well. So about 1/4 -3/8 works best. Thanks Shannon

San Juan dolphin new build questions

Definitely using gravel instead of sand for base and backfill. Two skimmer and four returns is what I’m going with. Thanks a bunch. Shannon

San Juan dolphin new build questions

So tee right off the manifold to two 1.5 lines each serving their respective pair of jets at each steps end and 2 skimmers. Gotcha. I am looking at 2” headers for the solar panels. I’m not familiar with the equalizer, what’s that?

San Juan dolphin new build questions

I should have mentioned this pool has full width steps at both ends, I’m planning two returns on each set of steps. I can’t disagree with two skimmers but I’m trying to keep the flow up with 2” supply lines since I would have a fair amount of restriction with pumping vertically 14’ to the solar...

San Juan dolphin new build questions

Hi folks, I’m planning a San Juan pools 14x33 11500 gallon dolphin pool and could use suggestions from all you experts. I actually built a liner in ground pool, with a little help from some friends, about 15 years ago but I think there have been some advancements in tech and methods. I will be...

    hotspot heater

Thanks for the replies. This is exactly the kind of first hand experience I was looking for. Jerryt it sounds like you are not exactly in love with your hotspot. Linen I did type in hotspot in the search but saw no threads where someone who actually has one chimed in, only opinions of if they...

    hotspot heater

Greetings all, I just bought a house that has a 18x36 vinyl in ground pool in the backyard facing due north. I am trying to decide on how to heat this pool. My previous pool had 8'x20' (total area) solar panels which worked ok except for the after the 6th year or so they started springing...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

So, I had my swg on superchlorinate for the last five hours. My fc went up to 17.5. I took the cover off, vacuumed the bottom because of some worms and the brown stuff, brushed every nook and cranny, backwashed, rinsed, added bleach to bring fc up to 35 and turned swg off. I think that there...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

Last night's fc was 15. This morning it had dropped to 13. Grrr. I am on my way for more bleach. Must have been something on the solar cover. Perhaps I should lower my cya to say 80? Should I shock or ma shock? thanks shannon

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

Well folks I got the ph to about 7.4 and have been checking the fc levels as well. When the fc level got below about 10 I turned the swg back on to about 40% sunday. Monday the fc level dropped to about 6. Yesterday they were at 2. I adjusted the chlorinator to 50%. I am running the pump for...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

About an hour ago I added 2 qts of acid and stirred. Now my ta is 70!. It starts to turn pink at 6 drops and is fully red at 7 drops. My ph didn't drop as much as I thought it would, ph is now 7.3. I will continue to aerate for 7.5. Anyone ever use a shop vac? Lots of bubbles thanks shannon

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

Thanks for the replies guys. Checked levels again this morning: ta 100, ph 7.6. This spring is the first time I have ever added acid to the pool. I did not add any for the initial fill in july 07 or any time since until this last week. It simply never moved from about 7.4-7.6. I have read...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

After days of aerating and adding muriatic acid, I finally got my ta down to 80. It seems the lower the ta got, the rate of change of ph and ta decreased. I was going for ta of 70 but it seemed that would take much longer(maybe I was just getting impatient). I just added the borax (11...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

Yes the swg was off overnight, so the test was good. I inverted the return on my aquagenie and it does bring a lot of water up above the surface but doesn't clean the pool very well. I have the swg on for today just to help with aeration. shannon

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

Well I checked the fc a little late this morning at 0730 instead of 0630. I found a .5 ppm drop over last nights level. The pool doesn't get any direct sun until after about 0830. I'll watch fc levels over the next couple of days and then bring swg online while I continue to aerate in...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

It has been overcast with occasional light showers here today. I did put the solar cover on this morning. I turned the swg on to 80% about 9am to see if I could hold my fc level at the 22.5 that I had this morning. I just checked the fc at 2:30pm, and it shows 18.5. I'll turn the swg back off...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

Hmm, it has been very windy the last couple of weeks. I will keep checking my fc level today and also put my solar cover back on, I am sure it has pollen all over it. I took it off to superchlorinate but just in case it has any algae on it I will keep fc level up for another day. I just got the...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

I checked the chlorine at 0630 am. It held at 22.5. The vast majority of the brown powdery substance has not reappeared. I have previously vacuumed it to waste being careful to not let any poof away. It always comes back within a day or so. So, now what? Do I let the fc drop to about 4 and...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

Test kit has arrived! here are the numbers fc 40 cc 0 ta 140 cya 90 ph 7.2 ch 270 I will test fc after dark and then in the morning. It may be a little lower than 40, I didn't stir the last few drops and I did see a clear spot forming at about 75 drops, it may have cleared if it had been swirled.

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

Thanks, I did the mustard algae shock according to the calculator. My chlorine should have been near 50 last night. My test kit arrived at my post office this morning, I should get it in a couple of hours. Can't wait to see how accurate the test strips/my eyeballs, and the pool store here is. My...

losing chlorine, algae in solar panels?

Greetings, I am having problems with chlorine loss. Last year I had no problem with swg keeping up chlorine levels. This winter I did a partial drain for winterization. Upon opening three weeks ago, I noticed some brownish powdery substance on pool bottom along with some leaves and stuff as...
