Slamming not helping....help Obi Wan..you're my only hope

just a follow up to close the thread. In case anyone is interested in how long it can take....Took me about 10 days for the pool to return to normal. Right now, water is crystal clear. Next time, I'll hit it at higher chlorine levels...and maybe twice daily brushing - seemed to help. Thanks...

Slamming not helping....help Obi Wan..you're my only hope

wow - I assumed it was best to keep the filter super clean. Liked watching all the cloudy water shoot out the site tube. I'll stop backwashing so much. Thanks again!

Slamming not helping....help Obi Wan..you're my only hope

Yes, I have a gauge on the filter. Currently at 12psi, which is normal for me. It never really gets above that as I backwash and rinse it often. Luckily, we are having some unseasonably cool weather here in KC so the attention is off the pool for a while. After 4 days, the water looks about...

Slamming not helping....help Obi Wan..you're my only hope

Sorry - I've had issues with plumbing failures (that is another post) and I'm leery of running the pump when no one is around...so I've been turning it off a few hours at night because I can't afford to buy another pump. I assumed algae sitting around in FC 25+ would be just as lethal without...

Slamming not helping....help Obi Wan..you're my only hope

Last Sunday(7/6) I lost my pump - had to overnight a new one. I kept adding bleach and manually mixing the water but obviously no filter. Pump was back online Tuesday (7/8) of last week. Friday (7/11)it looked like algae had started so I started slamming. I tested my CYA to be 60 (TF-100...

    Pump alarm

Just a question, and not sure if this is the right place. This is only the second season for my pool and I'm still learning. Last year I had a hose fail, and just happened to be outside and caught it quick. I replaced all the cheap ribbed hose with the white flex pipe. Yesterday the PVC...

    chlorine rise across chlorinator

Thanks for all the good info. I'm going to look at running the pump less....maybe on low. I do have a weir on the skimmer, but currently it is not installed. No floor drain. Thanks for the warning about the pool store tests....they seem so professional with printouts and graphs. Honestly...

    chlorine rise across chlorinator

Thanks - I bought one of the Taylor kits last year. This is just my 2nd year with a pool and still getting my mind around it all. The local pool store will run a test for free (and print out a report) so I use that as well. Sorry for the newbie questions.

    chlorine rise across chlorinator

Yes, I am aware of CYA. I decided to switch to bleach the end of last season and wanted to put in something to automate the bleach this year. Looked at Liquidator but did not want to inject in front of pump. Looked at Stenner, but then we went back to a single income and can;t afford it right...

    chlorine rise across chlorinator

Curious to know if my test results are normal. I have a 15k gallon above ground pool, using a Pentair 320. I have about 7 tablets in the chamber and it is wide open on 5. I have a 1.5hp pump, two speed, and it normally runs on HI. Testing the water from the opposite end of the pool, I have a...

    Stenner - what is needed.

Typically, we ran the pump for about 8 hours per day, but that didn't seem to keep chlorine levels high enough. I'm not sure how much the pump SHOULD run. If I remember correctly the 8 hour time was based off of my pump size and pool volume. Sorry, but I'm not sure how much chlorine we used...

    Stenner - what is needed.

Sorry, but I'm not finding much info on using Stenner systems. I was looking at the Liquidator - which has lots of info and a youtube video of the parts/install.....but I'm not to crazy about injecting chlorine in the suction line before the pump. I see people talking about Stenner, but not...
