Pool deck settling and cracks, help from the experts

I just wanted to thank Concrete Jack for taking the time to answer my PM's about the issues I have and repair options. He even Googled the different terms above for my area and found a company locally. They came out today and gave me a much better estimate, saving me over $1,500! If anyone is...

Pool deck settling and cracks, help from the experts

Hello all TFP'ers. My pool deck has settled about 2" on one side. I had a concrete repair guy come out and take a look, and here's what I was told. Add a special type of concrete to build up the decking back to level- $1,800 Remove the wood in the control joints and replace with a urethane...

Of course on Memorial Day weekend...pump problems

Thanks, I was happy when it started working! After that, I struggled with my new Poolskim, because naturally, my return was too high for the normal setup. I ended up having to use the 45 and the long piece of pvc. Sorry to hear about the shipping John. I would be asking for my...

Of course on Memorial Day weekend...pump problems

After 4 hours of the Permatex epoxy drying on the inside, I put the lid back on and turned the pump on, and it primed immediately. I cut it off and it still sprayed some water from the top, but cut it back on and it stayed primed. Now I have to find a new lid. If anyone knows where I can get...

Of course on Memorial Day weekend...pump problems

I already have some Permatex waterproof epoxy gook drying on the inside now. I may go ahead and put duct tape on the outside, too. If MccGyver can build a bomb with duct tape, a piece of gum, and a paper clip, surely it will fix my pump...

Of course on Memorial Day weekend...pump problems

I can't find one locally, and haven't had much luck on line. I have a WMC AT1800 pump. I'm going to put some stuff on the inside of the lid and try to make it as airtight as possible and see if that makes a difference.

Of course on Memorial Day weekend...pump problems

So I get my new Poolskim in the mail and went to install it this morning. I noticed my pressure was a little high so I was going to backwash first. I have had an issue with an air leak from the skimmer to my pump, so I don't usually run the skimmer wide open. I have had it running wide open to...

Ok, I want to test, but $68?!

I received my kit in 3 days. For those of us that used to buy kits from the other place, and waiting for weeks, months, or forever, this is customer service! I like the changes made, giving me more of what I use and less of what I don't. Thanks again Dave!

Ok, I want to test, but $68?!

Wow, I really don't understand how anyone can complain about the price of the test kit, especially considering this site is free if you choose not to donate. As you can see, I'm a long time member, going back many years with some of the folks here to Ben's old site, but I don't have a lot of...

Yet another "Can't get pump to prime" problem...

Thanks Jason. I actually started doing this exactly as you described. I had the bottom drain on, skimmer off, then slowly opened the skimmer. It's barely pulling anything into the skimmer, but it's running. On my pool, I only have 1 skimmer, and I have to run it with the bottom drain off for it...

Any more ideas after I posted the additional info and pictures as requested?

Yet another "Can't get pump to prime" problem...

The pipe on the left is the bottom drain, the right is the skimmer. As you can see, the pipes for the bottom drain and skimmer come into a T then into the pump, so I think that would eliminate the pump and the T fitting in the pump since the bottom drain works fine.

Yet another "Can't get pump to prime" problem...

I updated my sig w/pool info. I'm going to take some pictures of my setup shortly when my digital camera batteries recharge. I'll look to see what make filter I have and add to my sig. I Googled "pool air leak" and have done a lot of reading. I read several times to get the pump to prime, then...

Yet another "Can't get pump to prime" problem...

Thanks for the replies. I've been busy and haven't had a chance to check back in. My pool is an 18x36 IG with a vinyl liner. I have no idea what size pump/filter, but it's sand. I had my pool guy come out and look at it, and no luck. He put some epoxy substance on the pump lid where he said...

    Ideas?

Nothing is better than a smoked prime rib. I have a Masterbuilt electric smoker, and smoked a rib roast for Easter dinner. It was incredible. This is almost idiot proof as long as you don't overcook it. I did a simple rub with olive oil, kosher salt, and cracked pepper. I smoked with hickory at...

Yet another "Can't get pump to prime" problem...

Greetings all, long time no see. I had my pool opened Saturday. The pool guy left the hose in the pool running and got the pump running on the bottom drain. Everything was working fine. When the water filled up to the skimmer basket, I turned the bottom drain off and the skimer on to start...

    CYA level issues

I have not backwashed since adding the CYA. I'm testing the exact same way I have for the last 5 years. That's why I'm confused. I have added more CYA than required, but not getting anywhere near the readings I should. I bought the CYA from my pool guy. I think I'll run to Leslie's and pick...

    CYA level issues

I had a new liner put in and refilled my pool. I have added 8 lbs of CYA, 4 lbs at a time, and I STILL don't get a reading from my test kit. I put the first 4 lbs in 2 weeks ago, and the last 4 lbs in last week. I have added it through the skimmer both times. When I fill the tube up to the 20PPM...

New liner, anything special I need to do to BBB it?

Greetings. My new liner was put in today. I have 2 water hoses in it running wide open, and it looks like I have barely dripped any into it. Can't wait to see that water bill! My question is, once filled up and opened, do I need to do anything special as far as BBB since it's a new...

    Super Bowl

Hi Anna, sorry to say, but the only way I cook wings is to fry them, then hot sauce and butter. We have a BBQ restaurant called Sticky Fingers and they smoke their wings. I was skeptical, because if it isn't clogging my arteries, then it doesn't taste good. They are phenomenal! Here's a quick...

Thanks kt, sorry about the Bama thing. Saban is killing it in recruiting, and Bama will be back to dominating very soon. You will get to see them a lot next year between the ESPN games and the CBS game of the week. The rivers you mentioned are very beautiful, as is the Hiawassee. Great...
