yes, I've disconnected the hose and it doesn't change. Yes, the booster pump turns on. I'm not sure if the VS pump increases.

When I turn on the pool sweep, the pump comes on but the water flow to the sweep does not change. Where the hose connects to the wall - the water pressure does not increase. What/where do I need to check?

For anyone that reads this later, it wasn't a screw problem. It was the housing itself. The threads had warn off that the screw screws into. We got a little JB Weld - marine version. Worked like a champ!

What's the best thing to use to tape small tears in the sweep tail? Will Gorilla Tape hold underwater?

I did try the bucket approach earlier. The pool water level is low - that may be the problem - skimmers running without enough water. I will fill the pool for an hour and try again. Thanks so much for the suggestions.

I don't know the official names, but if you are referring to the O-ring inside the pump lid, that was one of the steps I went through in the beginning. I replaced it already.

Thanks. I didn't know what a sand filter was so I went and watched the videos. I don't have this type of filter. Inside my "egg" we have the 8-10 paddle type things. I do completely remove them and wash them before and after each swim season.
