    Inground liner replacement

Hello everyone! So I have owned a vinyl lined 16x38 inground pool now for 15 years. I paid the $3800 to have the liner replaced in 2006. I am a strong "do it yourselfer" and have replaced out and replumbed just about everything in my equipment pad, but I have never done a liner. I am...

Cheap alternative to pool cover water ballast bags.

This is my first year doing this. I agree, i should reduce water in them to allow for expansion. Drilling a hole in cap is a great idea as well. I will report back how they work out this year. I tied them together so hopefully the wind can't move them. We will see! Sent from my SGH-M919...

Cheap alternative to pool cover water ballast bags.

I am sure someone has already done this, but it is a first for me. I hate having to buy pool water bags every year because they break and tear so easily. This year I am trying something new. In my house we go though gallons of milk and water constantly. I just started saving the...

hayward super pump won't turn on.

This sounds like something I just went through. I finally hired an electrician and he discovered that the wire from the panel to the motor was shorting out because some of the insulation was missing off the wires. New feed cable and pump fired right up.

Has a pressure side cleaner ever cause damage to pool plumbing?

I'm curious if anyone has ever heard of or experienced any damage to return line plumbing, either with or without running a booster pump? I have been considering a Polaris 280 with a booster, but I have a 40 year old pool and I am worried about putting alot of pressure into my return line...

    Liquid Covers

So I am very happy with the Cover Free Liquid pool cover but not happy with the price and lack of alternatives. I don't like the fact that I am usually having to buy this stuff at the pool store with no alternatives. I actually looked up the patent to learn about what makes this stuff tick...

    Flow sensing pump shutoff

Recently I have been having a reoccurring nightmare where I am at work, and a line on my pump system comes apart allowing the pump to dump 22,000 gallons of water next to my house and basement! Is there some sort of flow sensor that would be able to sense the lack of flow, and turn off my pump?

new pool guy, need help with automation

I would definitely be interested to see what you did and how you set this system up. Pool automation is fascinating but I feel clueless with it all.

    Cleaner for spa/waterfall spillover basin

Welcome to TFP! Depending on the size of the area, you might try the Polaris Pool/Spa wand. It is an inexpensive manual vac that sucks up water into a fine mesh filter basket. When I say manual, I do mean manual! Everytime you want it to suck in some debris, you have to manually pull back...

    Suction gauge for manual vac?

Thanks Bama, that is a great idea! Would the T fitting have to be 1.5" to reflect the diameter of my vacuum hose? Also, I am guessing that the vacuum tubing that goes from the fitting end to the surface gauge would have to be primed as well before running the vacuum? Finally, do you think...

    Suction gauge for manual vac?

Hey everyone, So I would like to have a tool/gauge that I can place on the business end of my manual vac hose to test the suction of my system. Does such a thing exist? If not how can I measure the vacuum suction of my vacuum?

Kreepy Krauly- How does that hammer thing work?

Thank you so much for explaining this. It stills seems WAY complicated for just the one moving part!

    Sand in pool never ends!

Make sure after you backwash that you set the selector to "RINSE" and run pump for 20 to 30 seconds before changing back to the FILTER setting. This helps to clean out the lines and settle the sand so it doesn't end up spewing into the pool from the returns. I made this mistake before and it...

    Newbie considering salt system

I might have a deal on a cheap salt water ionizer, but I am reluctant to switch away from my chlorine setup. Is it possible to run both systems and then gradually back off on chlorine? Also, for those of you running the salt system; are you noticing quicker corrosion of pumps and equipment...

Kreepy Krauly- How does that hammer thing work?

So I just bought a used Kreepy Krauly Classic, hooked it up an the thing works awesome. I haven't really opened the insides yet (hope I don't have to for awhile)...can someone explain how the mechanism works? I know the hammer is the only moving part, but I don't understand how the suction...

    Need recommendations for pump/heater efficiency

This is such a great forum and I appreciate the input. I have been recently toying with the idea of installing an antique coal/woodburning boiler on my plumbing loop. The thing that worries me is that I have 2" pvc pipe on the loop, and the boiler input/output is a 1". I am not sure what...
