How long until my Green Pool is Clear ?? - This long :

I know there are so many variables to the question: How long until my green pool is clear again? For those of you as nervous as I was (even though I was doing everything correctly).... and Following the EXCELLENT advice on this forum I took care of my 1st Algae outbreak this year. I've never...

Question about Cloudy pool after slight algae outbreak

Thanks for the info guys. On my way out now to check and see what it looks like. Linen, I use 13,200 to play it safe(when calculating shock values) so you're right on the money. I've seen 2 different calculations / multipliers used on oval pools in the past (have the info somewhere) so I...

Question about Cloudy pool after slight algae outbreak

Hi all, I had a question, This year (we had a mild Winter here in PA). Last Thursday I pulled the cover off the pool and the water was very clear but had a slight green film at the bottom. No biggie, "this weekend, I'll pull the cover early and get everything going". (Even though the...

    Is pollen raising my pressure???

zea3, I agree, I think at some point, I could upgrade to a larger filter. @ 35GPM though, I don't have any problems recirculating the water in under 8-9 hours, but if the pollen is a problem I can see where a larger sand bed may help a bit. Today, I can say that I do see a noticable "film"...

    Is pollen raising my pressure???

This may be a stupid question but . . . After removing the cover this year, my pool is crystal clear, just the usual leaf here and there etc. Last year, before I closed it, I did replace some of my PVC (I'm using 1.5" PVC instead of the flex hoses between the filter and pump and all the...

    ABOVE GROUND POOL BOTTOM COVE

Just to be accurate. I just wanted to update my previous post a bit. I didn't mention it, but I am using 2x4x8 concrete blocks under the uprights (I have a 33x15 butress free pool so it has those metal straps connecting the uprights from side to side). After compacting the sand on top of the...

    ABOVE GROUND POOL BOTTOM COVE

Hi, Saw a Blank PM in my inbox about this and thought I'd just add my .02. I too am using Gorilla Pad over a layer of sand. My cove is sitting right on the Gorilla Pad. A sand cove under the foam cove just didn't seem correct to me. Most of the pictures I saw were either the Foam Cove...

    How to run intex swg

Just for comparison, I have appx the same amount of gallons in my pool. It get's direct sun pretty much the entire day up until appx 5-6pm. Last year was my 1st year with the Intex SWG.. I run my filter from 11pm till 6am with the SWG coming on appx midnight till 5am. (I figured... why not...

    Pool Salt

Just curious, At 5500ppm, Can't you actually "taste" that much salt ?? If I'm not mistaken I thought most people could begin to taste it at about 5000ppm (some a little less).

How much salt to add? First time SWG use

I agree with Lana as well. No harm in adding "under the amount needed" and then checking the next day. It's amazing how the reading may change. I'd rather have to add an extra bag or 2 than to have to drain and refill because I put too much in. Even though it dissolves pretty fast, it seems...

    Pool Salt

I've also have no problems with Mortons. (From Walmart). Dissolves pretty quick / no issues at all. and the price is good.

    Dose anyone use intex swg

Last year was my 1st year with a pool since some point in the 80's ! I bought the Intex 8110 - / 2009 Model and I had my filter come on from appx 11pm until 6am with the SWG coming on around midnight and runs until about 4am. (It's not really an exact thing with these SWG's but it runs about 4...

    How does a SWG work?

Well thanks, very much you Buzz-Kill. I just invited a few hot ladies over to the house to hang out in the cell. You really have to squeeze in there but .... wow , the fun! Cozy..... 8-)

    pump/filter placement for AGP

I agree, Above ground pumps will usually self-prime since they are usually below the water line. If you have the pump above the water line it will usually not prime itself. In these applications, I believe you could use an inground pump. Like MikeInTN mentioned though, I think as long as your...

Anyone using the small Aqua Broom

I'll do that. I think I'm going to pick it up and see how it works for those "little spot jobs". The only bad thing I seem to see about it is the fact that the batteries only last about a 1/2 hour. I'm thinking about using this thing for 10 minutes or so tops, to "grab" the occasional leaf...

Anyone using the small Aqua Broom

Hey everyone, Is anyone using the little Aqua Broom like this one?: http://www.aquasuperstore.com/products/ ... =327062596 I rarely have leaves in the pool at all. Occasionally I have the average "little stuff" like a pebble, dirt, the usual few small bugs that sink to the bottom etc...

Anyone using BBB with a saltwater above ground system?

I can't give you any "long term" results but after 20 years without a pool, I now have another that I've just installed. Since June, I've been using (specs in sig) the Intex SWG and I guess you could say the BBB method. I LOVE IT. I started off with a fresh fill and BBB for appx 2 weeks until...

    Silly Foam cove question.

I hear you, That wind can be a real pain. Usually when you install the pool wall (Hopefully just before you are going to install the liner (or not expecting wind), many installers "stake" around the outside of the pool and attach the pool wall to the stakes. In my case, I picked up about 30...

    Silly Foam cove question.

I used Armor Shield / Gorilla Pad and I LOVE it. Little expensive though but not too bad. I too used about 6" of packed screenings and just about 1" of mason sand over top to make sure everything was level (Then the Gorilla pad). You could always use a thin layer of sand over the screenings...

    Silly Foam cove question.

Dan, That's actually a pretty logical question. And you are correct. I was confused about the same thing. The earth cove suggested by the pool maker is quite a bit larger than the foam cove is. Why the makers of the foam cove don't just make it bigger, I don't know... In my case, the foam...

    Adding DE to sand filter

I agree, It's very hard to see any difference adding DE to brand new sand. After the sand begins to "dull", you can notice a difference with DE. I too changed my sand this year so I won't go back to a little DE inthe filter until the end of next season or possibly the season after that.

    The Skimmer Sock....Amazing

Love them. I've seen (and tried) a few different kinds. Some are very fine (like a T-shirt) and they do catch everything., Pollen, very small things etc. I love them. Previously, I used to use one of my wifes old nylons over the skimmer basket. They worked but were'nt "fine enough" to...

33 foot Paragon pool and liner

I agree about the new liner. It's amazing how "brittle" they get when they get dry. The difference between my 2 year old liner that was removed a few months back and the new liner that I installed was like night and day. The old liner, (while in good shape), was noticably "stiffer". The new...
