I actually couldn't find any of the Great Value bleach other than concentrated for High Efficiency washing machines. Is that OK to use?

Fired Pool Guy, Done Pool School, Have Kit & Test Results

Understood. I'll read up on doing an OCLT test. Regarding something being in the pool, it's plausible I have algae living inside the pool loungers which I can't see? Perhaps I should take them out and wash the insides with bleach. Thankfully I have a separate meter for the pool and...

Fired Pool Guy, Done Pool School, Have Kit & Test Results

Yeah what mknauss suggests is exactly what happened. See my post above. So I guess chlorine levels seem OK but CYA is the only real serious problem here? CC is 1, FC is 18. TC is 19. Sorry guys, beginners ignorance.

Fired Pool Guy, Done Pool School, Have Kit & Test Results

Fired Pool Guy, Done Pool School, Have Kit & Test Results Water is crystal clear, no visible issues. The sun just went down behind the garage but it was in full bright sun all day today. I'm sorry I posted the results of the CC test totally wrong. I was adding it to FC thinking I...

Fired Pool Guy, Done Pool School, Have Kit & Test Results

Thanks, will triple check FC / CC with supervision, and redo the CYA test with 50/50 pool and tap water then multiply by two. I have a sense CYA is insanely high which scares me. Rain in the forecast but not much! Thanks!

Liquid Bleach Brand - "Top Job"

Thanks for this knowledge. I'll be more careful of date in the future. Guess I'll have to use the 6 bottles I got for now and adjust the strength in my calculations to perhaps 8-9%.

Fired Pool Guy, Done Pool School, Have Kit & Test Results

FC -- 18 CC -- 24 TA - 100 CH - 450 CYA - 100 PH - 7.5 Temp: 82 All tests were double checked with the TF-100 test kit borrowed from the neighbor to test it out. Where do I get started getting this pool back in shape? 1) I've turned off the auto-chlorinator. Obviously I have...

Liquid Bleach Brand - "Top Job"

Ok I think I'll go with this then...have to get something and nothing else here. Doesn't seem like the best deal (you tell me) but it's $3.22/gal for 10% concentration.

Liquid Bleach Brand - "Top Job"

First time buying bleach in bulk after I've fired the pool guy. Looking at Top Job liquid chlorine bleach at Walmart. $1.00 for 96oz, seems like s good price. No active ingredient information is listed. Anyone used this or know anything about it? s

    Hello from Houston

Thanks for your answers above. This may be a stupid question, but from everything I've been reading it seems like the only chlorine folks are adding under the TFP system is ordinary 8.25% liquid bleach. Is that accurate? It seems like using chlorine pucks in the auto-chlorinator will increase...

    Hello from Houston

New poster to the forum. Thanks to a neighbor I joined this, and have finally decided to fire my $150/mo pool man and do it myself. I've read through the ABCs, ordered a K-2006c test kit, and have learned how to post chemical readings in a consistent fashion when asking a question. I've also...
