2-3 bags of salt a year? I go thru a bag about every 10 days! My Hayward cell just died last week, installed 8-2012. Didn’t realize it was dead, as it kept saying low salt which I added. Now my salt level is over 5000. Only way to lower it that I know is dump a LOT of water out, and refill.

Yep, been using those since mid-summer last year. Put a couple of rocks (actually anything to hold the net down) in the bottom of the net. When the pump isn't running, the net tends to float up without the rocks.

Thanks!! I'll try to drain the filter first for a day or so, then try the shop vac. Scoop if I have too. New sand sounds good. I did the deep clean last summer, and sand was gray.

How did you get all the sand out of the filter so I can replace the laterals? I think I may have a cracked lateral, as I keep getting sand in the pool.

Sounds like the pump may be going out. Nothing visible is loose to cause that sound. Can’t upload video for some reason.

No, doesn't drain when pump is shut off, but does drain when basket cover removed. Yes, the water does seem to slosh around quite a bit when running.
