Heat pump questions for an ABG pool

Hey all, Me and my wife were talking today and we think we want to add a heat pump to our pool. Nobody has used the pool in a month because it is to cold. I only really enjoy the pool in late June and July and in August it seems to get a little to chilly for my gang. So I am looking into a heat...

Thanks! one website that sells the blue scoops says 7 scoops for 5 lbs! I think I will stick to that and see where it goes.

    Leslies DE scoop weight

I just bought a blue 1lb scoop and it says 1 scoop for every 7.5 sq ft of filter area? My filter says 5 pounds of DE and it is 25 square feet. I am guessing 3.5 scoops? The filer is an EC-40 and online it says 4 pounds and mine says 5 pounds on my tank?

Hayward DE EC40 flow control disc

I am setting up my new DE filter and it has a part in the box called a flow control. It is a little clear disc about the size of a half dollar. In the book it really does not make mention to it except for a elbow fitting. I am using a union fitting to a matrix pump. Does anyone know anything...

New pump and filter...why did I wait so long

I don't think it is a solution to an algea problem, but I don't have algea problems anyway. My pool has always been clear on a sand filter, now it is going to be clearer

New pump and filter...why did I wait so long

Nice to hear! I myself just got my pump and filter via UPS today. I searched for a month on what to buy and I ended up with the Hayward EC40 perflex DE Filter and Matrix 1hp pump. The pump was my hold up. I wanted a 2 speed, Hayward Matrix with twist lock cord and built in timer. I finally found...

HELP>>> DE filter and pump options

Sorry to start another thread but I have narrowed down my new system to a DE setup for my 21ft round AGP. Now I have a couple of options. There is a Pentair DE system. Comes with the tank, and 1hp Optiflow pump W/twist lock cord. Now the next is the Hayward EC40 with the 1hp Matrix pump...

    Backwashing with DE added

Yeah I saw a product called fiberclear. I read all the reviews and some loved it and some said it caused algea problems. There is also Zeoclear or Zeolite? I really want a DE filter, but I really don't want problems or cause any environmental problems or harm to neighbors. I also don't want to...

    Backwashing with DE added

Will backwashing in your yard cause any environmental dangers or any health related issues to surrounding property owners? Sorry for my rookiness, but I really know nothing about DE filters and I am trying to learn all I can.

    Side mount sand filter

Thank you! I just went down to my local pool store and they had a DE filter. I am a little intrigued by it. I now have another filter on top of what motor to get :hammer:

    Side mount sand filter

What is a side mount sand filter? What are the advantages over the traditional top mount? I am buying a new system and it is almost impossible to get what I want so I am settling on a Hayward powerflo matrix 1 hp w/timer and twist lock cord and I am now trying to get a filter and came across a...

Please help with a new ABGP Pump and sand filter

Thanks for the post. I have looked at both of these quite a few times. My question is, do you know if these will have the three prong twist lock plug?? Is that a common plug?

Please help with a new ABGP Pump and sand filter

When I do a search for pool pumps, most of all the online stores only show 5 pumps for an ABGP and most are only 1 speed. I would like to get a 2 speed pump. How does a 2 speed pump differ from a single speed. I have never used one, so I don't know much about them. Thanks for the reply.

Please help with a new ABGP Pump and sand filter

I am pulling my hair out with what to buy. I presently have a Lomart Ultra Promega 1hp pump and Spectra 3 17" sand filter. This equipment is starting to give me little problems here and there so I have decided to replace all the equipment and use my old pump as a back up. The pool is a 21'...

    Coldest you've gone in?

I don't know quite how cold I have been in my pool. But I have snorkeled in caves in Mexico with out a wet suit and it was easily 60 degrees. Refreshing is the word. My ideal temp is 80-85.

    Pole Sprung Up

I was going to say the same thing. I would drain the pool and myself and see if it can be repaired, if not, I would just buy a new pool. My guess it is a root or stump pushing up! This is a bummer, you don't want this the first week of summer!! Could still be repaired/replaced and running by the...

Thinking of a new pump and filter

Hey gang, reposting this here. I finally got my pool filled and all hooked up today. I had a leak over the winter where the pool drained to about a foot, so I hired a pool guy to come out and help me find it and neither of us can find it?? He is stumped and so am I. So I just filled it and see...

    Pool dome for sale

I hope I can post this here. I bought a Sun Dome pool dome for my ABG pool a couple of years ago and Never installed it. I still have both boxes sealed in the shed. I paid $1300 for it and I am never going to use it. We had a hurricane this past fall and lost some trees, so I just went ahead and...

    Aquabot rover sport?

I have the pool rover and I love it!! Greatest ABG pool vac ever! The cord does tangle, but the way I solved it is I turn it on, let it go to the furthest point and then I have pole and I raise the cord in the air over the pool. I started to do it with the pool skimmer net pole and then I made a...

    ABG Pool leak

The pool is done leaking, so dye will not help, it sat all winter at that level. I also read that if you pool water goes to low you will have to replace the liner anyway. The only place that would make sense to me is that the pool is leaking from the bottom from the mole tunnel, but again there...

    ABG Pool leak

Hi, I have a 21ft round pool and I seemed to develop a leak. It seemed to start last summer as the pool levels were depleting rapidly. I just assumed I was having more than usual evaporation and then I suspected a leak. Anyway, it was close to closing time so I closed the pool and now the pool...

    Sun dome

The weather is a little different along the shore here than the rest of state as well as PA. It is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. I cannot explain the water temps, but I am not complaining. I did put the solar cover on to get it warmer, but I have not checked the temps, I did put...

    Sun dome

Good for you, you guys deserve some nice summer weather. Unfortunately for us, I just saw the weather for us and more rain on the way. I have only had my lawn sprinklers on a few times. They have been shut off for weeks :hammer:. We are usually in a drought by now and easily in the mid to upper...

    Bricks OK for steps??

I went out and bought two bags of playsand and used two large bags, almost like large ziplock bags and sealed them up. They fit under the steps well and do the jobs. I like the fact that there is nothing to damage the liner and it was cheap.

    Sun dome

Well I got my dome kit and I have been waiting for a nice day to attach it, but out of know where the pool water is 80 degrees? So I think that I have decided that I am going to hold off for a month and wait till August and buy the screen for the dome, then attach the dome and use the screen...

    Pump and filter location

I put my pump behind my pool as far away as I could for noise and so I don't have too see it. Just have too remember that the further you put it, the more digging you will do and more electric wire. Be sure to check all the codes to make sure you can put your pump where you want it.
