I figured i would need to add stabilizer so i put some in a bucket of water last night. Is that ok to do and use? Do you think I had ammonia? Is that where the CYA went?

Does muriatic acid affect TA? TA is 40 now, should I adjust TA first?

I just tested the water after 3 rounds of 10ppm 15 min apart. Ammonia 0 Fc 8.5 Cya 40 ph- off the chart high/purple

Mknauss, my CYA is not 0. Should I still follow the 10ppm protocol?

Would a Slam break down the ammonia? Should I do the 10ppm to see if the ammonia is indeed the issue with the PH?

Why 10? That seems low? Can I SLAM the pool?

FC 2.4 CC 3 I also have an ammonia test kit the result .5- 1 (tested after the chlorine was added if that makes a difference). Does ammonia cause PH to rise?

No it was unreadable. Every year we have 0 CYA. I presume its because we live in a wooded area and despite a good pool cover, leaves and debris make it into the pool every year. Does that sound plausible?
