    Salt lowers freezing point

Just curious...would the concentration of salt in a pool lower the freezing point enough that it could aid in freeze protection? It doesn't apply to me because I have to winterize in Michigan but I don't think I've seen any discussions about it.

    Sorry Grandma

I bought my house in May but it was my grandma's so I've been taking care of the pool for 20 years already, albeit poorly I've come to find out since joining the forum. Anyway, I'm certain she is doing violent somersaults in her grave because I haven't closed the pool yet. She would have been...

    Be careful Midwest.

I checked my FC last night after everyone was done swimming. It was at 1ppm. Crud! I put a half gallon of 10% in the night before. That has been about what has been needed each day for the last few weeks. I guess I've gotten used to cool weather and no swimming. There might be a lot of other...

    Changing out valves

I have an old, simple setup. Two black poly lines coming in. One from main drain and one from skimmer. They both have a barbed hard 90 elbow coming off the black poly that turns them each into an old brass gate valve. Then they connect in the middle with a tee and go into my pump with pvc...

    Hello. I'm new.

Good afternoon. I'm new to the forum. I've been reading a lot and look forward to getting my pool in check and chemical costs down. I have an old concrete/fiberglass hybrid pool in need of rehab. The bottom is not too bad but the sides are horrible. The paint seems to be blistering away...
