Yeah, I have a 2 stage drain on a DE filter, but essentially you vacuum while backwashing, so in essence vacuuming to waste. Thanks all, any more questions and I'll be back.

I believe I understand now how I got the excess calcium build up in the pool. Shortly after I opened the pool I had to travel out of town and my salt generator wasn't keeping up with the demands of a still somewhat dirty pool and I asked my daughter to add shock to the pool after testing each...

I have checked this morning, I pull a pile like that out everyday or so....there is still a lot of this at the bottom of the pool (brushed to the deep end), what would happen if I vacuum it? Would the filter catch it? Then backwash thoroughly and "maybe" the excess calcium will be removed...

Here you go...pics of the "calcium spots", these are all over and are raised, almost could peel them if you know what I mean. The second pic is of the substance which I believed is DE from the pool after it's been dried out, however it definitely fizzed like a soda with rock candy poured in...

Folks, actually have two questions tied to Calcium Hardness..... First, I have excess DE coming into the pool, replaced the grates in the filter figuring a tear, but there is still some in the pool although I've been getting it out through either the Polaris cleaner sucking it up, or vacuuming...

    Leaking Booster Pump

Thanks for the feed back, problem resolved. Turns out not only was the pressure side leaking out of the booster pump, but the suction side as well, and this is what was leading to air in the system. All is well now, and as always thanks for the support from the site.

    Leaking Booster Pump

Thanks for the feedback...and yes I meant union...essentially if it needed to be done again, I would have to keep cutting pieces and those pieces get smaller and smaller and eventually you run out of pieces to cut :) Now onto the suction side leak...hopefully someone can chime in there...going...

    Leaking Booster Pump

All, I've had issues all season, probably longer and never really paid attention to it prior because it just wasn't a big enough problem...well now it is. 2 issues, which may or may not be related - a) Booster pump leaking at the outlet end b) air leak somewhere I would assume suction side...

input - CLI finish "crumbling" off, only on tanning ledge

So as the title says, I opened the pool this year and noticed some of the finish (pebbles) on my feet as I walked in the ledge. As I started brushing the surface of the pool and got over to the ledge, large amounts of "finish" started coming up...so I then vacuumed it all up and now have quite a...

Jandy Aqua Pure 1400 error code 172

All, just to close out this thread in case someone else comes across it. I replaced the salt sensor with the new variation, set the correct firmware and away we went, everything working as advertised. Thanks again to everyone's assistance. JD

Jandy Aqua Pure 1400 error code 172

OK, so Salt content is where it was prior to the unit failing....3.3 which is the reading I get. So I guess this means the Salt Sensor is bad? As for which Cell I have: My sensor screws in the bottom so I'm guessing I can just replace that. To your point, I think what I'm understanding...

Jandy Aqua Pure 1400 error code 172

SWG Gurus....I've searched and read. First I addressed the cell which had scale build up....cleaned and reset the unit to come up with the same 172 code. Next did the test on the control board both with water flowing and off...not sure if this makes a difference. Results where not consistent...

    First time SLAM

Ok, so SLAM or should I say lack there of is complete. I knew I probably didn't need to slam the pool, as the water was crystal and FC was fine, but when I opened the pool I had half a million dead worms and two frogs...so it grossed me out and decided a slam was warranted. In any event...OCLT...

    First time SLAM

OK...next question....proceeded to do the drop test which I've done regularly over the years, so fairly familiar. In any event, things started out great...extremely pink water. After 40 drops the water turned a murky color, almost like dirty water, maybe rusty looking...kept going to 60 drops...

    First time SLAM

Thanks...that's what I'm trying to avoid is wasting the reagent on a first test too quickly...the first test was the only one I was concerned with, after that I'll test a few times a day.... Thanks

    First time SLAM

All, getting started with the SLAM and while most things seem clear...one question. How soon after X number of jugs of bleach is added do you test? I'm guessing 30 minutes or so, but would like any other opinions. 18,000 gallon in ground with Pump running at 2000 RPM.

2nd season with pool, getting things balanced

Water is crystal clear.....added for stabilizer today so will perform the whole test set again next week. I talked about rpm last year and several on here said gpm didn't matter, which I didn't believe as more water flows if your still at the same % you have to chlorinate more water but others...

2nd season with pool, getting things balanced

Ok another week and I'm back. SWG is at 65% for 4 hours 6/1 FC 1 CC 0 TA 100 CH 250 CYA 45 PH 8.2+ As has been stated PH bounces every day so I'm adding 32oz of MA every two days, I tested before adding this morning. My big question is FC, I still can't get it to rise much at all. When...

2nd season with pool, getting things balanced

Guys and gals...last year after pool was installed balance was pretty consistent with the exception of PH which climbed like crazy every other day or so. This year had to have pool drained and acid washed (long story but was planned with PB), and had fresh water dumped in. I've spent a couple...
