In your pool 1 8oz puck should yield about 3ppm Cl, and about 1.6ppm CYA. When I leave for a week vacation, ill put a couple of pucks in the skimmer with my pump on low 24/7, and put a few more in the floater. 1 puck just ain't gonna do it for ya.

Congratulations on getting your pool cleared up, but I would bet all the water in my pool that it was the elevated levels of chlorine and filtration that got you there, NOT nature's pool filter. Do you have a current set of RELAIABLE test numbers to help determine if you pool is truly clean?

Save yourself an additional day of headaches and just order the TF-100 now and get it a day earlier. Most likely the pool store does not have the kit you need, and the TF-100 is a far better value than ANYTHING the pool store has to offer.

Somebody with more knowledge on the subject will come and provide a better answer than me, but this is the basic idea: Water absorbs heat more efficiently when the temperature differential is greatest. You are not just heating the water in the tubes, you are heating the whole pool.
