    Burn marks on floor

I just noticed what looks like burn marks on the floor of my pool (vinyl liner). I'm pretty sure they weren't there this morning. When I brush them, nothing happens. I turned on a Hayward chlorinator this morning with pucks (I usually don't use but wanted to add some CYA). I turned it off now...

    Losing pressure when pump off

I picked up JB Water Weld which had mixed reviews, but it worked really well as a temp fix. I also replaced the pump lid. When I had the backwash issue, I heard water coming back from my Hayward chlorinator. I likely need a new check valve for that but I turned that off also. Not sure what...

    Losing pressure when pump off

@duraleigh thanks for your assistance. After pump was on for a while, I noticed that this joint is leaking. I'll need to get it repaired, but what's the best temporary band aid I try to apply from the outside until then, such as an epoxy, silicone, etc?

    Losing pressure when pump off

Thanks. I am going to replace the lid of the pump which in general is aged and the plugs. Regarding slamming, when I open the pool there's a lot of dirt and leaves even with an elephant cover. I use the big leaf sucker water hose vacuum (which I love) usually don't add chemicals first because...

    Losing pressure when pump off

When off, the water in the pump is empty. When I turn on the water comes in from the pool right away and primes. I do notice now a cyclone of bubbles in the pump when on. And when I turn it off, before it loses prime, I see a large bubble on the top. I'm also noticing that there is moisture...

    Losing pressure when pump off

Need a good diagnostician ;) When I turn off my pump to backwash, the water level by the pump strainer basket goes down, I hear a hiss from the filter, and water is rushing through the multiport valve for a few seconds. It was never like that in the past. If I wait until it stops and turn to...

    PH reading low during slam

I started with the dry stabilizer and attached a pic of my makeshift contraption. It was bugging me that it was cloudy because even though my CYA was low, in the past that just depleted my chlorine fast but the pool was balanced a few days after opening. And when I had low PH in the past, it...

PH test sample changes after a few minutes.

When I test my PH using the Taylor kit, it initially registers at 7.0 after shaking well for a few seconds. But when the sample sits idle, the color changes every few minutes and the level keeps climbing from 7.2 until 8.0 + Is the initial reading the correct one and is this normal behavior?

    PH reading low during slam

Tx. I have a DE filter and since the pool is still very dirty, it needs to be backwashed often which I know isn't good when raising CYA. I tried getting liquid stabilizer but all local stores are out and even on Amazon would only arrive next week. Should I run the filter on recirculate? If so...

    PH reading low during slam

Just opened the pool and added too much chlorine before checking PH. My numbers are CYA: Doesn't register FC: 10 CC: 0 TA: 60 CH: 300k If my actual CYA is really under 30, my shock level would be 10, and if 30, it would be 12+. So I'm either just at shock level or a little lower. I was...

Return eyeball with thin slit caused major leak

Thanks for the response. I replaced the eyeball because the previous standard eyeball broke (the ring cracked off the threading). I had assumed it was just old age. Can you explain what you mean by a failed return and if there is any quick fix?

Return eyeball with thin slit caused major leak

I have 3 returns and one of the standard eyeballs broke. I purchased a new type on Amazon with a thin slotted opening that claims to increase circulation (link below). When I turned on my pump, it got the circulation going better than ever. However, a day later, my pool level dropped a few...

Cork in Laars lite Plug Hole

I noticed an old post where @CUTiger78 suggested a cork for a worn out plug hole. I tried it with a cork one size too small and it partially broke and is pushed into the heater :hammer: Do I need to have someone open the heater and locate it or what will happen if I leave it? (The cork piece...

    Cloudy water with perfect numbers

I shocked last night as suggested and came home from work today to a crystal clear pool. I can literally read the date off a quarter on the bottom of the pool :D :super: I am pretty sure if I went to my local pool store, they would have sold me clarifiers and other junk. This forum is so...

    Cloudy water with perfect numbers

I opened my pool, cleaned out the junk, slammed and balanced using BBB, and my numbers seem to be right, but the water is still cloudy after a few days. I passed the overnight test and I am wondering if I need to slam again, give it time, or is there something else not showing in the tests that...

    Any changes needed?

I finished balancing my pool and I'm nervous that I put in too much CYA. Also, the water is crystal clear, but thought I would post the numbers in case the levels should be tweaked. (For example, should I raise my TA slightly?) FC: 7 CC: 0 PH: 7.6 TA: 100 CH: 110 CYA: 55-60 Thoughts? Thanks!

Advice on going away for the summer

Thanks Richard, and thanks for always being so quick on the draw on answering forum questions in general! I will be popping back home from time to time so I will certainly keep my BB's at hand. When I visit the pool, I will even give it a special treat of fresh clorox bleach :) I will also have...

Looking for advice on SLAM (picture)

I had a pool swamp for many years before purchasing a cover, and opened each year to an insane amount of giant leaves. The one product that was a life saver was the Big Sucker Leaf Pool Vacuum (Amazon sells it along with nearly identical ones which I assume are all similar). You attach a garden...
