Due to my wonderful test kit and this great site, I have never had my water tested at a pool store. My question is do they check for CYA on normal testing? Is it very accurate? I would like to see if their results are near mine to make sure I am reading the test right. THX :lol:

Hey neighbor! Hang in there, get your test kit and follow the great info on this site. We built our pool a couple years ago and I have followed TFP advise ever since. Don't worry about your CH, in this area is will just be high. Mine runs about 500 but that is just the way the water is out here.

I just use WalMarts and have been happy so far. By the way go to the 380/Custer Wal Mart and leave my stash at the Preston/Hickory Wal Mart alone!! I am tired of them being sold out or only having 3 jugs left. hee-hee :)

I would say yes to the flagstone. About 1/3 of our pool does not have deck up to the coping and we did about 18 in of small stones with flagstone pavers so there is a path around the pool. I would not want grass real close to the pool edge just so when you mow you don't get alot of clippings...

THANKS for all the info! I checked the control panel and there is a "drain spa" setting so I will try that today. I also found the switch at the bottom of the valves so that is good to know also. Hopefully this will work and I can get my fountain working again.

Thanks for the info. I can put it in service mode and see if that works. The pool is under construction in the picture (completed 3/11) and they were running water thru the filter to clean out all the pipes and test some lines.

The hot tub fountain broke and a piece is still partly in the hole in the hole in the bottom of the hot tub. I can not get it out so draining the hot tub into the pool is my next option. I have the Aqualink pool remote so the valves are on remote changers so I can't just close the hot tub...

UPDATE - after going through half the bottle and not being able to get my pH down I finally just bought more, added it and now everything is fine. I have no idea what happened but that bottle was bad. Lesson learned and now my ph is right where it needs to be. Thanks for the input.
