    Chlorine test question?

Good to know. Thanks. I assumed that everyone was using the block since the instructions in the test kit said use it daily. I see many post about people adding chlorine every other day or so and assume that was the test they were using. I’ll start using the other one and mainly use the block to...

    Chlorine test question?

Ok. Good to know. Guess I’ve been using the wrong test for my pool math input.

    Chlorine test question?

Yes, from the block. The pro kit came with a recommended testing sheet that says use the block to test chlorine and pH daily and only check with the powder, the free chlorine, once a week. But then I see people are putting chlorine in their pool every day or every other day, so are they doing...

    Chlorine test question?

So why use it to test daily as recommended and do you even use the number in pool math?

    Chlorine test question?

This might be a dumb question, but I have the pro kit for testing. There is the block thing that you test chlorine and pH daily. Then with the drops and beakers, there’s a free chlorine test and a total chlorine test. What chlorine test is the one in the little block with ph considered? Free...

Just filled new pool Need help

I figured I’d give it a go with the tablets see how it goes. Didn’t want to start the CYA out too high if not needed yet since the tablets are also adding it. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll switch to a SWG since water changes in a fiberglass pool are not very easily done.

Just filled new pool Need help

Thank you. I looked for something like that earlier and couldn’t find it. Must’ve not looked hard enough. What’s your opinion on adding the stabilizer since I’m going to more than likely use the pucks? Should I bring the CYA up right away or let the tablets slowly increase it? It’s not swim...

Just filled new pool Need help

Not sure where to start with my new pool. Wish I would have found this site before I started it. Just finished "Pool School" with the pool company and it was a joke. Day one, he cleaned it and poured a half gallon of acid in it and never tested the water. Came back a two days later and cleaned...

First start up New construction pool

Sorry. I’m a knucklehead.. the pump strainer is staying full. Look at it with a flashlight and it looked empty but it wasn’t. Should I be concerned about the 0 psi at low speed? Ran it through the settings and wouldn’t read pressure until 2000 rpm.

Not sure if it’normal but the pump schedule ended and two hours later the pump has lost its prime (no water in pump basket). Pump and filter are maybe two feet above the pool level.

First start up New construction pool

Just checked it and the speed is 1700 rpm. 0 psi and the pump basket had lots of air bubbles in it and not full of water. Lots of flow out of the returns in the pool and good suction at the skimmer. Shut it down and checked the pump strainer and it was clean. Fired it back up and the pressure...

It’s a Hayward 4 cartridge filter. Not sure if they cleaned it since I was gone when they finished. I do believe he said he wouldn’t clean it until after he came back on Wednesday. Seems like they half assed the cleaning after doing such a great job with the installation.

Well.. they showed up and just used a hose hooked to our skimmer and vacuumed it. Added chemicals and will be back in two days to vacuum again, clean the filters and check chemistry.

Yeah, those would get the job done. Not sure what the pool guy has, guess I’ll see when he shows up.

That’s what I did but the water gets cloudy and hard to see the bottom when it kicks up the dirt on the bottom. At the point now when I think I need to run the filter and get the suspended stuff filtered out.

First start up New construction pool

Looking for feedback on starting my pool for the first time. Not so much on chemistry, but on cleaning due to the construction. It’s a fiberglass pool so it was filled while backfill, construction and concrete was going and is quite dirty. They pressure tested the system but have never ran the...

What would you do chemistry question

The warranty is just cut and pasted straight from the manufacturers warranty policy. Not sure why they waited until after the contract was signed to give the paperwork. Honestly, not sure if it would matter since I had no idea about pool chemistry until I started doing research after the fact.

What would you do chemistry question

Thanks. I I thought about doing the water test manipulation but for 10 years seems like a full-time job. Also wonder about the value of the warranty, I’ve heard that it’s pretty difficult to actually get one covered so I wonder if all the effort to follow their procedures even worth it.

What would you do chemistry question

Our new fiberglass pool is going in next week and they sent this today. In order to maintain the 10yr surface warranty they want the chemistry different than what seems to be recommended here. Not sure what to do. They want a monthly log and a pool store water test every 6 months to prove that...
