    Safe to acid wash?

    Sulfamic is just as effective?

    Safe to acid wash?

Have customer with 5 year old plaster (new pool). Has some extensive copper staining (using some “blue” chlorine product). Plaster feels smooth to the touch. See pics. This forum has me paranoid about acid washes now.

Suggestions for 2 speed pump wired to a compool system for inground spa with spa side control

I can't seem to find a 2 speed pump for an inground spa that is set up with pool type equipment and that has pump basket, etc., for inground set up. Of course, lots of 2 speed spa pumps out there without a pump basket. Current set up is a Sta-Rite Dura-glas Dual Speed Pump connected to a compool...

Massive scale (?) issue - acid wash or other solultion?

    Fascinating. Looks like it.

Massive scale (?) issue - acid wash or other solultion?

Dumb question, but best/safe way to test with acid? Scrape some off and then hit with acid?

Massive scale (?) issue - acid wash or other solultion?

See attached pics. I assume this is crystallized calcium. Customer called me about this. Other company did an acid wash and closed up the pool and I'm afraid they did nothing to balance the chemistry. (have not been out to test chemistry yet, but obviously it is off). From research, seems like...

Hayward Owners - Reason NOT to upgrade Hayward Aqua Plus to OmniPL? Most owners satisfied with Hayward Omni PL?

Okay. I just responded to AWJ22 regarding the pump converter board. If it's an older model (before 2020), and does not have the RS-485 connection, what is your recommendation?

Hayward Owners - Reason NOT to upgrade Hayward Aqua Plus to OmniPL? Most owners satisfied with Hayward Omni PL?

    I just looked. It's a 2018 manufacture date. It's a "PMP Superflow VS 1.5", manufactured 6/25/2018.

Hayward Owners - Reason NOT to upgrade Hayward Aqua Plus to OmniPL? Most owners satisfied with Hayward Omni PL?

Have a customer with a Hayward Aqua Plus panel that wants to add wifi. From my research, the Aqua Connect system is discontinued and no longer supported so probably not something I would recommend to him which leaves the OmniPL upgrade kit. We just install and service way more Pentair sytems...

Acid Wash vs Jack's Magic for copper staining (suspected high CYA levels, what to look for to assess risk to plaster).

The sanding would still shorten the plaster life, but obviously would make it smoother to walk on, so still just a temporary solution.

Acid Wash vs Jack's Magic for copper staining (suspected high CYA levels, what to look for to assess risk to plaster).

Yes. And came back out today to look more closely. As expected the CYA is too high to test without dilution. One drop seems to obscure the dot. And I did notice that the “stains” do have the smooth finish worn away. So I’ll probably recommend replastering it and definitely not an acid wash. May...

Acid Wash vs Jack's Magic for copper staining (suspected high CYA levels, what to look for to assess risk to plaster).

I’ve got a couple techs who have done it before (I’m a new-ish owner and haven’t personally done it) but I’m not sure they’ve been trained to do it “the right way” in their previous employment or what to adjust depending on plaster condition etc.

Does a copper heat exchanger care more about LSI or pH?

    Very helpful framing. Thanks!!

Acid Wash vs Jack's Magic for copper staining (suspected high CYA levels, what to look for to assess risk to plaster).

Got called out to a customer's house where his plaster seems to have some pretty extensive copper staining (see pics). I went out for a different reason and didn't have the jack's magic stain kit, but there are blue stains across large swaths of his pool. I will confirm, but they appear to be...

Does a copper heat exchanger care more about LSI or pH?

What is considered “low” vs “high” TA? Keeping the TA at 50 is a little counterintuitive, though the LSI math makes sense, as a supposed drawback to “low” TA is fluctuating pH, and the supposed benefit of “high” TA is resisting changes to pH. But perhaps I just need to reframe what is high vs...

Does a copper heat exchanger care more about LSI or pH?

Correct, but even in a pool without CYA, would you still ignore trying to adjust FC according to pH? Just doesn’t make a big enough difference even in a CYA free pool?
  27. Q

Does a copper heat exchanger care more about LSI or pH?

So the chart we all see about effect of pH on HOCl (below), practically, doesn't make a difference? I guess in my mind I was thinking, okay, at a pH of 7, it's 75/25, or whatever, so if your FC is 4 PPM you have 3 PPM of active/effective chlorine and at 8, if it's reverse, you would only have 1...
