All is well, but a little cloudy

OK, so the pool is looking pretty clear....still not "crys-tall" clear though...so, onward we go! I read through your post on the cellulose alternative, but I don't have a skimmer. I could just put it in the cylinder that my cartridge filter is housed in, but we don't have a skimmer to add it...

All is well, but a little cloudy

Ok...I wonder though, is it uncommon for the pool to seemingly pass the CC and OCLT, but not be clear yet?

All is well, but a little cloudy

Ewwww! I was afraid of that! The kids were sooo excited to swim yesterday, I reluctantly let them swim, since the chlorine wasn't at SLAM level anymore. So, I should bring the chlorine up to SLAM level? Or can I leave it at 10? When you guys (and gals) say "clear" you mean...

I'm just wondering what is causing this oh-so-slight cloudiness?

All is well, but a little cloudy

Ok, so I bet it's best to wait till chlorine drops to normal range, don't you think?

All is well, but a little cloudy

Hi, everyone! Ok, my water has cleared up nicely. I did change the filter and add 2 pair of knee highs, like y_not suggested. :0). Lol...had those here at the house, go figure! ;0). So, I've stopped adding chlorine, and have just been letting the SWG do it's thing. Here are my numbers today...

All is well, but a little cloudy

Ok, whew! That's a relief! I was thinking that was the case, but I was beginning to second guess the process. :0(. That's never good....that's why we had to level the pool TWICE...we second guessed the string level! ;0)

All is well, but a little cloudy

Oh, BTW...I decided to go crazy and test the water for pH and TA as well...oh man...those numbers are off the scale!!! Scared me to death! I just closed my eyes and backed away from the test kit! It's ok for those numbers to be insane during the SLAM process, right? (Crossing fingers)

All is well, but a little cloudy

Ok, the water is looking better every day, but I'm wondering...is it normal for the pool to still be slightly cloudy, but the chlorine to be seemingly holding steady? My chlorine tests for FC is higher than my test allows and the CC shows no detectable color change, which tells me it's at or...

    Intex SWG copper anodes

OK, thanks jblizzle! I'll look at the top 2 pins...one of the other members mentioned that to me, but at first glance it didn't look like those could be "operated" on, I thought she had a different model than the one we have...I'll look again and see what I can do. Thanks!

    New Pool Build

Oh wow!! How nice! You've inspired me to go home and work on our landscaping! FWIW, I like the color of the pavers...it makes the coping pop and highlights the color of the stone work. Great job! I bet it's been fun to watch it all come together!

    Intex SWG copper anodes

Hi everyone! We have recently installed an Intex SWG and are in the final stages of SLAMming our pool (whole other thread in progress...long story short, we had an algae issue, but it's almost clear, thankfully!) Anyway, my question is about these copper bars. This is a picture of the...

All is well, but a little cloudy

update: Chlorine held pretty well all day yesterday and through the night. (keep in mind, I'm going by the color of the test only as my kit only reads up to 10) The color has been above 10, consistent and when I add the drops for the CC test, there is no detectable change in the color of the...

All is well, but a little cloudy

Hi, Eddy24! I know it would be better to have the kit, but we are on the tightest budget ever right now. I've already dipped into grocery money to get the better test kit. Being self employed has it's ups and downs, and when accounts are slow to pay it can make for lean times. That's where...

All is well, but a little cloudy

Right! :0) in the morning if the color is still up there, should I just brush it, turn the SWG in and leave it? I'll b gone the whole day. If the color is not up there, I'm going to assume (yikes!) that I need to add more chlorine, right?

All is well, but a little cloudy

Ok, so just leave it and wait till morning. Then test the chlorine to see that the color is off the chart? I know the color, it's probably the brightest pink EVER!! (An artist would be thrilled! :0). We've left the SWG unit off all day, should I go ahead and turn it back on? We usually leave...

All is well, but a little cloudy

Hello from cloudy-pool-land! Ok, we brushed the pool, changed the filter and the green crud infiltrated our waters again. So, I went back to the basics. I read more about slamming the pool and rechecked all my numbers..pH was up to 8.0. After reading some about slamming, seemed important to...

All is well, but a little cloudy

OK, thanks, I'll brush it and change the filter when I get home... :splash:...we'll be glad when this is over, we are sooo ready to get back in!!

All is well, but a little cloudy

Here's an update and a question. The pool is almost all the way clear, the bottom has what I assume to be algae, it's a green powder (I say powder because when you gently sweep it, it fluffs up into a cloud.) Although there are readings that have changed, like the pH is now at 7.8, but I've...

All is well, but a little cloudy

Thanks, RobbieH. I retested a couple of times tonight and got the same number...90...BLEH! We went ahead and drained some water and refilled it. Added more chlorine...gotta go get more tomorrow! Lol...had I known how much chlorine I'd be using, I would've bought stock! :0). Good news is the...

All is well, but a little cloudy

I'm going to double check the CYA again tonight...that black dot test was probably the trickiest one for me. If I'm right, and my CYA is at 90, then I'm thinking my CYA was higher than what was noted on the paper from the pool store testing, right from the start. Thankfully, I didn't add as...

All is well, but a little cloudy

Just thought of another question...With my CYA being up to 90. It has already take some serious chlorine to get my levels up, and it's going to take more to maintain that level till the pool clears. CYA doesn't deplete, right? If that's the case then shouldn't I dump my water now, then SLAM...

All is well, but a little cloudy

Thanks...I'll have to get that extra test kit....sounds like I'm going to need it soon. I have spent lots of time on Pool School and lots of time on the forums. Up until this past Friday everything was good....the only thing I did against BBB (besides the algecide ) was not get the...

All is well, but a little cloudy

So, did putting Algecide in the pool put me on the do-not-call list? Sorry about that, I only used it because my parents have had an in-ground pool for many years and that's all I've known as far as one of the weekly maintenance chores. Anyway, hopefully I'm not on bad terms here, I've...

All is well, but a little cloudy

Hello all! Last night I added 138 oz of chlorine. Today I was able to purchase a Taylor K-2005 kit (long story, but, that's what I was able to get today, and the way my water looks, I didn't want to waste any time.). I hope having this kit instead of the TF-100 is ok, at least for now. I...
