Hey DC, Did you ever decide on the 5000 vs. 8000?

I think draining it is out of the question at this point... I've been trying to research it and what I'm finding out is to take a small piece if wood and hammer it down. Kinda worried this would puncture the liner..

when you go to install it you will have to saw the screw that came with the hayward return in half so that you will be able to screw the intex valve on completely snug. I may would also add some teflon tape around the hayward return threads just to be safe.

Its like a super durable thick plastic pallet that i got from a big box store one day when i bought a fridge. The store just loaded the fridge with the pallet attached. It ended up working out perfectly.

Well I took the screen off and it seemed to make the flow worse. So if anyone out there is thinking about taking the screen off the intex eyeball, DO NOT!! I some how rigged the hayward return back to the pool. The flow is so much better with the hayward return!

Well when I installed my hayward skimmer I installed the outlet that it came with to. I noticed that the hayward outlet had more pressure, but it was leaking a little bit. So me i kept tinkering with it until I broke it. I reinstalled the intex outlet and naturally the pressure was not as good...

It makes me wonder why intex would even sell/market their intex swg if that is the culprit. I have read that some pools that do not even use the swg have rusted as well.

Has anyone cut off the screen on an intex return eyeball? If so wouldn't you think it would increase circulation??
