Successful SLAM, 2.5 ppm FC loss over 4 hours during day and CYA at 40ppm

Re-checked our TA and it is 80. Going to ask a neighbor to put in SLAM level of chlorine every 3 days while we are out for the week and skip the puck approach.

Successful SLAM, 2.5 ppm FC loss over 4 hours during day and CYA at 40ppm

This is good advice/approach…I may be able to convince a neighbor to do this… it’s not too much chlorine back to back? SLAM’d this past weekend…FC should come down this week and we’ll maintain it at the recommended level then basically back up to SLAM 7 or so days later?

Successful SLAM, 2.5 ppm FC loss over 4 hours during day and CYA at 40ppm

hmph…then I’ll add more stabilizer in a sock and dangle it in front of the jet starting now…since it won’t impact CYA with adding pucks while on vacation. Would you suggest more than 2 pucks or something else? I would hate to have to slam again! argh.

Successful SLAM, 2.5 ppm FC loss over 4 hours during day and CYA at 40ppm

7 days. I don’t have a neighbor I’d trust to dump the right amount of chlorine in the pool. Good to know 3.5-4ppm loss per day isn’t unheard of…what CYA is that at?

Successful SLAM, 2.5 ppm FC loss over 4 hours during day and CYA at 40ppm

Another successful SLAM thanks to the TFP method. Thank you for everyone’s contributions! For anyone frustrated with their pool, don’t worry it only took me 5 years to figure it all out. From what I am reading, losing 2.5 PPM from 8am to 12pm is probably too rapid and CYA should be increased...

    CYA 90, FC 6.5, PH 8+

Well we finally got this wet stuff pouring out of the sky last night. It’s been 50 years since I’ve seen …I think it’s called... rain? We nearly have an infinity pool now. Will have to drain it later today so our skimmer can do it’s job, which means double yay…our CYA will get a slight dip.

Should I add muriatic acid to lower PH first? Wait 30m, test to confirm it’s under 7.8? Then add LC to raise to the ideal range? Added the below to my original post: March of this year, CH was 420ppm TA 2/3 120ppm 3/3 100ppm 3/17 100ppm 3/23 100ppm 5/18 120ppm

Hi Pool Experts! I’ve learned so much reading other threads and the pool school articles and finally (after 5 years of pool ownership) feel like I have a better understanding of pool chemistry. 14k gal pool, plaster, resurfaced April ’23 Test Results 16 days ago I did the OCLT and we had less...
