Coming along

Just an update on this: got a new motor for the pump installed. Pool is clearing up nicely running the filter 24/7 and backwashing daily. Father-in-laws pool guy tried to convince me to let him flock and vacuum it to waste but I am resisting. I'll post pics of progress when I get home today.

I’ve attached a picture of some chemicals left by the previous owners of the home/pool. Is any of this worth keeping or using?

I need to aerate to raise my pH after dropping it with acid to ultimately lower my TA which is currently 120

Just wanted to update this thread with a tap water test: Tap water: CH: 150 TA: 110

I performed the diluted CYA test and got 90. Looks like CYA is around 180.

Kit is awesome and user friendly. Instructions are clear and it’s organized logically. I’m a buy once, cry once guy so that was my ultimate reasoning for going with it.

Good read! I’ll get that actual CYA number tonight with the dilution trick. I’m wondering if I could drain 5-6k gallons vs the entire pool.
