    Testing CC DPD

Thanks all for replies Any comments on the usefulness of TC/CC test with DPD? @PoolStored True the K-2006 is similar but still with the acid/base demand reagents and 2.5 times the price TF-100 in ESP vs USA. I can add the R-870/871 to my K-1005 for a little less so maybe not so bad. @HermanTX...

    Testing CC DPD

Over last six months now understanding more about testing and maintenance. Started out with Taylor K-1004 as that’s what was available here locally in Spain. Quickly moved up to K-1005 by mail order after I discovered TFP and needed to test CYA. Kits here are 50% more expensive compared to US...

    Another pH TA question

Would this replace or supplement the Chlorine DPD in my K1005? On paper they appear to test similar things except accuracy and increased range.

    Another pH TA question

Thanks for advice. I thought I’d read somewhere about not dropping by a larger value. Agreed it is probably above 8.2. Doing that today.

    Another pH TA question

Ok thanks… I’ll aerate a little by positioning the returns to allow flow to break the surface - best I can do presently. I want to get the TA lower to reduce amount of acid adding/purchasing. So no problem adding the correct volume of acid in one application to go from 8.2 to 7.2 (1250ml for...

    Another pH TA question

First season managing pool which as yet is only just being used as water temperature starts at 22°C rising to 24°C by late afternoon. Switched from previous owner using pucks to liquid chlorine and muratic acid thanks to recommendations on TFP. Latest test results FC 10 CC 10 pH 8.2 TA 120 CYA...

I might try to return it unopened. Strange really as the store is the pool supplies place in the area, but the supermarket is where you find what you need! Tiled pool and no SWG.

After searching pool supplies shops and not finding muriatic acid, bought 15% sulphuric acid. Then today found in the supermarket pH reducer : Contains Hydrochloric Acid. Concentration: 20% or 13° Bé. However the dosage seems to be three times the volume for the sulphuric acid. :unsure:Am I...

I have a new K-1004 kit that I replaced with K-1005 to get the CYA and CH tests. I was looking to move that on but may keep it for replacement reagents and the extra tube.

I’ll check what is available and if unclear will reply to ask on here. Tricky to find that kit over here, but one online supplier I’ve used does sell the R-0870 and R-0871. I assume the 9198 sample tube isn’t anything special?

Thanks! Will get pH reducer tomorrow. The Chloryte usage docs states: Always perform the treatment with the filtration in operation, and with the pH between 7.0 and 7.4. Shock chlorination in case of problems (algae or cloudy water): add 150g of Chloryte per 10 m³ directly into the water...

Recent new pool owner and getting to grips with pool chemistry to self manage using the excellent resources on here. Previous owner was using all in one pucks with trichloro, algaecide and flocculant. This resulted in very high CYA levels and chlorine off the scale. To lower CYA I’ve completed a...

Return inlet direction, Drain valve position

Do you close the skimmer valve (fully/partially) while doing this to get more suction at the drain?

Return inlet direction, Drain valve position

Suggestions for positioning and angling the return inlet eyeball please. Recently had the multiport valve replaced and after they removed the plugs the inlets now agitate surface water. There are two return inlets vertically above the edge of the bottom (third) step, one skimmer and drain. See...

    Unknown floating equipment in filter

Thanks JamesW. The exploded diagram isn’t that exact. However, had someone replace the cracked lid and seal today and put the offending item in the correct place.

    Unknown floating equipment in filter

Thanks. It looks like part number 10 on that exploded diagram. The documentation is pretty poor and would be hard to install without prior knowledge. From that picture it just goes on the vertical pipe somewhere, but what would stop it just coming off again

    Hello

New owner of below ground pool and looking to manage myself so interested in all the useful information on here. Already found a problem in the filter with unexpected part floating around.

    Unknown floating equipment in filter

Hello as newbie on here I have an AstralPool Cantabric filter with side mounted selector valve. Through the transparent lid I can see what looks like a centring ring (I only know this from exploded diagram in manual) floating around at the top. What’s it’s purpose? Where should it be...
