Acorns...cam any cleaner really handle them?

An oak tree's very life hangs in the balance. Every year it grows farther and farther over the pool and the acorns fall (sometimes with the help of squirrels) into the pool. Hayward Navigator gets clogged pretty quickly. No pressure-side plumbing available and it'll be about $1k to cut tree...

    Wet Niche Bonding/wiring

I think the underground power lines to me light have collapsed/been compromised. After heavy rain saturates ground, GFCI trips after a bit when pool light turns on. Yeah, run all the wiring underground to hide...seemed like a good idea 18 years ago...now, not so much. Anyway, just gonna run new...

P1353ME Timer and Raypak Digital Heater - Wiring question...

Have a P1353ME timer (with cooldown mode) which I want to use to shut off heater a few minutes before pump shuts down. Question is: Is the wiring of this as simple as it appears? On the P1353ME timer, there is a jumper/loop for the firemans switch connection, and I seem to recall the Raypak...

Replace Hayward Astrolite w/ Intellibrite 5g in Sp-607 niche?

Current Light: Hayward Astrolite SP0583L50 in a Hayward SP607 Niche. Want to replace w/ an Intellibrite 5g model but it appears that the Intellibrite 5g has an outside ring diameter of 10.12" while current Hayward Light is 10.875" ring diameter. Can't really find specs on niche faceplate...

Detail on wiring Pump/Stenner to P1353 ME timer

Now that I've decide the general 'how' of it (http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/77336-Hardwire-220V-Stenner-anybody-do-it), all that is left is confirmation of the wiring. What say ye regarding the below...I *think* it's how it should be wired:

    Hardwire 220V Stenner...anybody do it?

Got a hold of a 220VAC Stenner to pair with P1353ME timer, 220VAC at equipment pad. Figr'd the Stenner would come w/ no cord, like pump or heater so imagine my surprise when it came with a NEMA 6-15 cord on it. Alas, a few choices I guess: 1. Cut receptacle plug off end of Stenner cord, wire...

[PIC] CuLator after 1 month in pump basket...

CuLator 4.0ppm Ultra PowerPak, Gator-Egg after 1 month in pump basket: 1. It smelled nasty...like the rotting shores of Lake Erie 2. Upon cutting it open, the innards had turned to a clear, gloopy gel. Did it do anything? heck if I know...I did test water for metals using Taylor test kit and...

    New Raypak heater is haunted...

Replaced an old Minimax Electronic Ignition NG heater (200K btu) with a Raypak Digital NG (266K btu)...but when this heater fires it it sounds like a haunted castle for a minute, low-level howling, whistling, wailing. Wonder if it's gas pressure issue? Have a AC-250 gas meter on house, maybe...

    Hayward (EUS) fan motor wiring

Need to replace a fan motor in a Hayward/EUS heat pump. Unfortunately, the old motor has 4 wires (+ green) coming out of it while manufacturer specified new motor has only 3 wires (+ green) Stupid upside down picture; photobucket having some, uh, issues apparently. Regardless, any...

Filter media blown into pool on pump start/stop only

Obviously, something is awry. Changed filter media about 3 weeks ago, apparently something was dislodged. If I were to leave the pump on 24/7 it wouldn't be a problem as no media (Zeolite) blows back into pool except for when pump is stopped, then started. I held a strainer over a return when...

Pumping has always been a Challenge(r)...

Ok, sorry for the silly pun. Anyway, 16x32 inground, vinyl-lined pool, Raypak 266 NG, Rainbow 320, that is used for 1st half of summer, Liquid Chlorine once CYA rises, 2 returns, 1 skimmer, 1.5" plumbing, Hayward S244 300lb sand filter (Zeolite), no water features or anything else...pretty...

Greetings from (currently snowy) NE Ohio...

Just livin' the aquatic dream... We had a simple, 20K, in-ground, vinyl liner pool built about 17 years ago and the stuff has fascinated me ever since. After the first couple of years or so of being a pool newb and frequenting pool stores, I ran across another online forum and have been dumping...

    Vacuum gauge?

Looking for a vacuum gauge, preferably with about a 1' long flexible hose. Wanna use it for attaching to pump basket drain plug which, along with pressure gauge should give me what I need to figure total Head of a plumbing/piping setup. Any ideas?

    Electrical for new Autopilot

I'm thinking of adding Autopilot SWG this spring. Current equipment (pump/heater) wired 220v to Intermatic T101R timer box. Relatively straight-forward deal. With respect to electrical, where would the Autopilot fit in to this scheme? The manual indicates provisions for wiring to external timer...

    Gutter/Deck drain question...

]Given the below image, a few questions. The deck drain (outer edge) part is not draining; any idea where to look for blockage? I'm guessing it does not flow into the surge tank along with the gutter water/pool overflow. thanks
