Sorry, swimcat here again. Forgot to include my new equipment description. Here's the cartridge info:
Hayward W3C500 StarClear Cartridge Pool Filter, 50 Square Foot.
I just bought & installed the Hayward cartridge filter below. Hand tightened everything yesterday. Was hot and sunny today. Cartridge pressure was already high today & return flow was very slow. Already, I can't budge the locking knob on top of the cartridge canister. Any suggestions? Do I...
As a follow-up to my question above, I have a 1.5 pump, which was given to me. I know its too big for my pool but, if I decided to use it this season when pool equipment is hard to come by near me, what size cartridge filter would be appropriate to use with it? If I got a smaller size...
I would appreciate suggestions on pump and filter combinations. I'm logged in but I don't see my pool description below. I have a 12 foot round above-ground pool. Bought it with a proprietary pump and filter that died a few years ago. Bought an Intex pump and sand filter unit which did a...
Hi. Unfortunately, tried filling the inlet/suction hose with my garden hose several times. As soon as I pull the garden house out of the inlet hose and let the inlet hose drop down in the water again, the pump loses suction. I know that most above ground pumps are meant to be below the inlet...
Thanks. Actually, I cannot never get the pump primed at all. I'm wondering if a 3/4 hp pump has the power to prime at all with a hose going over the side of the pool.
Hi, I purchased my pool at Island recreational (local to Long Island, NY) & it has a proprietory skimmer that was, actually, attached to the canister that held the cartridge. Yes, the cartridge was suspended in the canister; not on the ground. (I'd take pix but neither my phone nor my camera...
Thanks, Paul. I tried everything. I don't have the strength. Believe it or not, I had to wait till an out of town relative who works out and has big hands was around to do it for me. I, still, haven't put it back on. Any suggestions as to how I could put it on so I don't have this problem...
I, finally, got my Intex pump cover off after dozens of try. Had to get a friend who works out a lot and has big hands to do it. Intex doesn't have a handle on top of the pump cover. Any suggestions as to how to put it back on so I don't have this problem again? Jacks lube and don't tighten...
I, still, haven't gotten my filter and pool up and running. Can't get pump filter basket cover off no matter how I try. Anybody have any suggestions for that? Once I get it all together, I'll fill up the pool and take photos. Thanks.
Thanks, Frogabog. Yes, everything was fine inside my sand canister. Another question. Do you have any suggestions for getting the cover off the filter pump basket cover? There are leaves in mine and I want to wash it before putting it back on the canister. But, I can't budge the cover...
Thanks for your encouragement frogabog. I took a few days away from the filter and swam at my community pool. Taking a break was a good idea. I wasn't frustrated by this past weekend and tackled taking apart the filter. Got it all apart & cleaned. Will get new sand and put it back...
Thanks. I'll try in future. I had an enormously difficult time getting the clamp that holds the six way on. Even with my neighbor's help, it was a chore. It wasn't so hard to put the filter system together when I, first, bought it but the plastic may have shrunk or whatever but taking...
Thanks, frogabog. I'm glad to know the laterals may not be shot. But, I may replace the filter system anyway. I had a very hard time getting the valve and related parts off and on the top of the filter. Spent hours on that and on getting the sand out the pool. Took to a local pool supply...
Thanks. I'm going to try out all the above ideas and see what works. I don't have an intex pool; I do have a railing of about six inches but, still, a bungie cord would work. Right now, my in-wall return is okay. You all gave me great ideas for keeping the intake hose in the pool without...
Thanks much. I have to get a new filter right now but, after that, think I will go with a pool blaster max li. Robots looked nice but, for a 12 foot above ground pool, I use after work and on weekends, I'm not keen on spending so much $.
Hi, Been getting a lot of sand in pool lately. Pool repair service checked out sand filter today and said, since I can pull the center pipe out and there are no laterals attached, the laterals, probably, all broke off. He recommended I buy a new filter rather than pay the cost of a service...
Due to a big leak in my basket, I've had to rig my pump and filter to bypass the skimmer. My inlet hose now goes directly from my pump/filter into the pool. I recall when I was a child, we had a pool with non in-wall skimmer or return - the inlet and return hoses went directly into pool...
Thanks, Rocket Squirrel. That's good to hear. I'd had problems with repairs on my former pool blaster original but I'm glad to hear the max is worth the difference. Have you gotten more than one season out of the max?
Has anybody had any experience with the Kokido battery pool vacuums? I know Watertech is made here in the US & I, usually, try to buy locally made products but I have been dismayed at the high repair costs Watertech charges.
Hi, Does anybody have recommendations for the best stand-alone battery pool vacuum for my pool? I have a 12 foot above ground pool (see below). Have a lot of sand as well as small and large debris on the bottom. I can't use a manual vacuum because I've had to bypass my skimmer. (It was a...
