Any Idea What Is Floating In My Pool?

Apologies for not responding sooner- Thank you for the Quick feedback. I went ahead and SLAM'd with a 2.5G tote of chlorine I had on hand Monday evening, and let the pump run more than normal with the cover Open all day Tuesday. Whatever the material was, the chlorine appears to have cleaned it...

Any Idea What Is Floating In My Pool?

9 Year old vinyl pool with variable-speed pump (replaced 2 years ago), original sand filter, and autocoder (replaced earlier this year). Water has always been clear, with TFP guidelines followed for life of pool (only liquid chlorine). Only thing slightly out of the ordinary for us this summer...

    Help Replacing Autocover Track Shims

Coverstar helped solve my problem- I was attempting to slide the shims on TOP of the extruded aluminum tracks... they actually go UNDER! (duh!!!) Anyhow, I guess that's what I get for not leaving one side of the pool "in tact" as a reference.

    Help Replacing Autocover Track Shims

Decided to replace the plastic shims that sit on top of my CoverStar Auto cover track (originals were constantly popping out along both sides of pool). "Easy project" started by pooling out the originals by hand along each side. However, I'm unable to get either my new replacement parts or...

Pentair Intellibrite 5G Lights- Short Lifespan

Thanks for the reply. I have the 120v- and your thoughts about the advantages of 12v make sense- I will consider when I purchase (probably going to live with only one for this summer- secretly hoping that a new version appears). Absolutely no signs of water getting in, and I doubt we use them...

Pentair Intellibrite 5G Lights- Short Lifespan

Curious to know if my experience is "typical" or if I have just been unlucky... I had two Intellibrite 5G LED lights installed with my pool build... One of the two lights stopped working at the end of Season #3, and the second original has died at the beginning of Season #5. Living in Ohio, my...

Help! Vacation requires figuring out Trichlor Chlorinator Settings

Thanks a lot- this makes sense. I should've started with the Pool Math instead of the generic "Owners Manual" recommendations. Used some old "tongs" for the grill to remove 6 of the tricolor pucks.

Help! Vacation requires figuring out Trichlor Chlorinator Settings

Hello, All. On my 3rd summer with a vinyl lined ~25,000 Gallon Pool with Autocover. I have operated the pool per the TFP-endorsed BBB method throughout all operating seasons, and couldn't be happier with my results. Use a test kit regularly, and have been averaging ~.5 ppm loss of chlorine per...

Will using liquid chlorine lead to a fading of the liner?

I've had my pool for 1.5 summers, and used BBB exclusively. I have an autocover for any time the pool isn't in use, and typically only need to add 14 oz of chlorine a day to stay around my 3-4 ppm chlorine target. I'm a "data guy", and generally measure chemistry daily (and maintain a...

    Proper Drain/Skimmer Pressure Balance

Thanks- sounds like "all is normal." And, yes- playing with things to better understand my pool's actual flow sound like an intriguing way to spend some future Saturday. (Needs to be cloudier/cooler, though- no way I'm getting the wife & kids out of the water today. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Proper Drain/Skimmer Pressure Balance

2nd Summer with my pool. Ever since install, I have operated things with all three of my return valves (Shallow Skimmer, Deep End Skimmer, and Main Drain) 100% open. Is this "Normal", or do people tend to try to "balance" for some optimum flow. I'm asking because (to me) my Main Drains (I...

"Retractable Pool Cover IS your Stabilzer"

Re: "Retractable Pool Cover IS your Stabilzer" Unfortunately, this summer's cool start in the Midwest has preventing me from getting a real feel for my Summer "typical use" Chlorine consumption up to this point. With 35 CYA (based on measurement), PH around 7.7, my (covered) clear water is...

"Retractable Pool Cover IS your Stabilzer"

(Quote from my Pool Installer/Services provider). Wondering what people's thoughts are with regards to this statement. This will be my first full season with my new pool. I plan on following the BBB method (as I did for ~2 months of operation last year). However, I can't say that I will NEVER...

Anyone add Chlorine to Closed Pool?

Thanks for the quick reply, guys. I think will just leave things alone for now. I just opened the cover to take a peak, and the water looks quite good. I would have to damage teh liner in any way (pool was just completed in August).

Anyone add Chlorine to Closed Pool?

I'm coming out of my first winter with an in-ground (auto covered) pool. Living in Ohio, I'm not expecting to open until sometime in May. Any harm (or REAL Benefit) to adding Chlorine to closed pool now? Even though my pool isn't currently running, I'm thinking that this could help keep the...

When to add stabilizer (Fall vs. Spring)?

Hey, guys- My 18x36' pool is currently filling following a planned Vinyl Liner replacement. After a few days of cycling to check for leaks, the pool will be winterized (I live in Ohio- we are DONE swimming!). Pool has an automatic cover that will be closed until spring. Question: Any benefit...
