Dry Skin caused by Low FC and High PH?

Good to know. I used to aim for 7.2 PH and TA 50-60 when my CH was above 1,000 Never really thought to aim that low when my CH is more in range. But, it makes sense:) Working on it now. Aerating and adding MA:)

Dry Skin caused by Low FC and High PH?

Thanks! I just lowered the PH to 7.4. Should I go lower? I was thinking that TA is within range...albeit on the high side of the range. So, I was not thinking that could be a driver:) Probably should aim for the lower end of range since my CH and PH tend to drift toward the higher side:)

Dry Skin caused by Low FC and High PH?

UPDATE 5/25/25 - FC = 7.5 CYA = 50 TA = 50 PH = 7.2-7.4 (I can never interpret the color correctly) Definitely feels better now. Everyone else seems to have"normal" skin after swimming....so that's a win:) I still notice some drying, but not as bad as before. ORIGINAL POST: Ok...long story...

    Need Hayward Colorlogic Light

Bumping this up....as I need to purchase New Part# LPCUS22100 (Hayward Colorlogic LED light). Would LOVE to NOT have to spend the $1,200.00 that my local shop is quoting me. Should have bought the old model back in May ($750)...when I had to replace the first light that went out. Had I known the...

    "High" Chlorine Levels Issues

Thanks for the reply! Ok...so I was right about it being OK to run higher FC levels:) Flipside...I have been my own worst enemy in regards to Chlorine consumption. I knew I was doing something wrong....lol

    "High" Chlorine Levels Issues

So....I have been meaning to ask this TWO-FOLD question for a while in regards to Chlorine Levels. I think there was a post about this, but I cannot seem to find with my KEY Word searches. If someone can link it that would be great! so here goes: 1) The pool plaster guy commented to me that I...

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

Little Update : The Plaster guy came today (the exact same guy that said that I needed a replaster). He originally recommended a replaster because he was worried the stains would still be there after a polish. But after chatting with him and he realized how muchI knew about my pool (thank...

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

You are SOOO helpful!!! thank you so much! This just means if the current plaster insists on an acid wash....I just a have to keep looking until I find one that is just willing to polish:)

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

The first guy that came out used a Diamond polishing pad to show me how it works (hand sanded an area)...50 grit. I am assuming they are going to use something similar....but I will definitely ask on Thursday

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

I am meeting with the plaster guy on Thursday to hopefully get a better understanding of what a LIGHT acid wash is. So....would you recommend just doing an acid wash and NOT the polish? Or just the polish and not the acid wasH?

Opps...sorry about that. I thought it was easier to not start a new thread....

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

Bumping up...:) EDITED TO ADD on 10/21 : I have the plaster company saying that they have to do a LIGHT ACID wash & Polish. I cannot do JUST a polish (which is funny, because the first guy said there is an option to do just a polish...but anyways). How much should I push the issue that I only...

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

So....based on everything shared here: - The stains are in fact dirt trapped in Calcium - My CH is too high...so it is perpetuating the problem - Solution to Calcium/dirt build-up is heavy duty sanding - Have Plaster Company POLISH (no need to acid wash or REPLASTER) - Maintain a CH below...

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

Well...on May 10th I did a refill with water from the hose and got a CH = 370. I do agree that being at 950 seems high. but based on your calculation....I started 120 higher, so I should be at 870 ish....so not too far off.

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

The only chemicals I use are Chlorine and Muriatic Acid. I think I floated maybe a TOTAL of 8-10 chlorine tabs over the ENTIRE summer.. because the chlorine was being burned up so fast because of the heat...and we left town for a few long weekends. Outside of that....NOTHING else has been added...

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

based on the fact that I went from 370 in May to 950 in October.. I need to drain EVERY YEAR:) If the CH this year was not just from the water....what else caused it?
  20. A

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

Valid point:) So....let me ask you this....would the solution simply Be to have the Plaster company do a "polish" and then going forward just continue to maintain proper chemicals. And just acknowledge that I will need to do a drain EVERY year to keep my CH below 600? Is that the solution? No...

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

Yup...that is exactly what the staining is:) I plan to drain in the next month....it was just tough...because I drained in May...then TWO weeks later had to drain again because a light needed to be replaced. So...I was trying to avoid doing 3 drains so close together....:)

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

It is high....I started at 370 in May when I did a no drain/refill. I should probably maintain a lower TA to counter balance it. I can mange it as high as 1100. After that it gets tough. But before I started using TFP it was 1600. So, again...although it is "high" it is manageable and not as...

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

Thank you of this link. I should note that when I first came to TFP because of the staining....I did get tons helpful advice about the staining. I tried all the "methods". VitaminC, Spot treating with ACID (bought a cool thing that allows you to apply MA directly to the stain, Keeping FC high to...

High Acid Demand and Recommendation to Replaster

Yes it is:) I will note....if there is space in testing....I was just adding 1 gal of chlorine just about every day or very other day as it was so hot and I knew I was burning through 4-5PPM everyday...but I didn't always log it....yes, in hindsight not a smart way to do it.
