    Winter Wind

I also put bleach jugs filled with water on the cover. 26 legs on my Intex = 26 jugs of water. Strings tied to the legs then up and over the top rail. Not as windy in SE MN as SW but still pretty bad. Never had a problem and I don't add water over the cover.

Equipment insights please. TDF, GPM, HP calculations to get water to solar on the roof?

You mentioned Fafco, two 2x20s, why not just get a 4x20 or better yet a 4x24?

    Sand Filter for 10' Intex?

Have you considered just getting a better cartridge to put in your filter? I would toss the Intex brand and get a Unicel. They filter MUCH better and can be rinsed off and reused. When I used them in my Intex cartridge filter one would last all summer.

26' Intex - Planning, Install, Upgrades, and Landscaping Thread

They're held on by zip ties high enough on the legs where the ties won't touch the pool wall, I was worried about chafing and wearing a hole over time. I've become an expert siphoning water with an old 1" pool vacuum hose. A garden hose works too but it's very slow, a set it and forget it...

26' Intex - Planning, Install, Upgrades, and Landscaping Thread

I think i mentioned early in this thread i switched to an oversized solar cover and I'll never go back. I clip the cover on and never get a single leaf, bugs or dust in the pool. Removal literally takes 3 minutes. I remove all clips except 2 that are directly across the pool from each other...

26' Intex - Planning, Install, Upgrades, and Landscaping Thread

I have the same setup (skimmer and Intex cleaner). When I upgraded to a new filter and pump it moved enough volume to have 2 returns so I was able to run the Intex cleaner and an eyeball for circular water circulation at the same time. I don't know if the Intex filter and pump you have moves...

    Ground Prep Question

I had a similar problem. I dug the stump and roots out because i was worried the roots would decay over time and settle. I filled the hole with a fine compacted sand and haven't had a problem.

26' Intex - Planning, Install, Upgrades, and Landscaping Thread

It looks like Walmart has the Intex Auto Pool Cleaner. Not sure why they are so expensive at over $100 there, I got one last year in the mid 60s... That pool cleaner is the best thing I ever purchased for the pool. Yes it is probably cheap junk compared to the expensive ones but for the price...

26' Intex - Planning, Install, Upgrades, and Landscaping Thread

That's much better than I thought it would be, not bad at all really, the foam must be pretty dense. I'm guessing it might sink more over time but it's probably good for a while. If you decide to place blocks with water in the pool I've had good luck with a floor jack and rigging two 2x4s to...

26' Intex - Planning, Install, Upgrades, and Landscaping Thread

If the wood blocks weren't flush with the foam you probably would have had problems. They would have been pushing up on the bottom of the liner and I'm guessing might eventually tear it. Just my 2 cents but you've spent sooo much time researching, preparing, constructing, money and doing...

26' Intex - Planning, Install, Upgrades, and Landscaping Thread

Here's a cheap DIY fence. Did upgrage to cedar as recommended by my brother in law who owns a fence company (lasts longer, doesn't warp much, no maintenance). Price was $10 a foot from Menards.

26' Intex - Planning, Install, Upgrades, and Landscaping Thread

It is a bit of a pain. I've become pretty efficient at removing and installing the cover by myself, maybe 3 or 4 minutes tops. If anyone else tries it, forget it, not gonna happen. So you're right that might not be the way to go.

26' Intex - Planning, Install, Upgrades, and Landscaping Thread

For placement make sure the pool isn't in the shadow of the house. Mid summer won't be a problem but mid May and end of August could be. The sun angle at your location can be found online. My "opinion" on solar covers... After 5 years with an ultra frame and trying different things with a...

DECIDED ON INTEX! Suggestions Wanted - Intex XTR vs "Real" AGP

I would bet money, or a case of beer, you get what you ordered. Plus it says sold and shipped by walmart which would give me peace of mind, not some other company which is sometimes the case. Once you see the box in the store you'll know if it's the real deal and if it's not what was...

DECIDED ON INTEX! Suggestions Wanted - Intex XTR vs "Real" AGP

I ran into the same problem looking for intex pools a few years ago. Intex website doesn't list their biggest pools and the ones they list are 4x the price of walmart. I have an old thread following the price of the 26' pool at walmart over the course of a year and their price jumps all over...

I drained the pool too far, it’s at least 12 inches below the skimmer, will it be ok? 30 ft round

Thanks, I see the light! My confusion was mistakenly thinking it was a vinyl sided pool like an Intex. Looking at the picture I see it most definitely is not.

I disagree. How deep was the water when it froze? 1 ft of water in a pool that size is 44,000 lbs. I'm guessing you still had at least 2 ft of water so thats 88,000 lbs. That pool isn't going anywhere, leave it alone till spring.

How tight to make winter cover

I let it sit on the water, 2 to 3 feet of snow on a stretched tight cover would wreck things in a hurry. I use the jugs to hold the cover down until rain or snow takes over.
