    In retrospect... Share your wisdom.

This should read 'installed speakers'. Just nice to have the ability to play music out there - either when in the spa or swimming. I positioned one near the spa so I can keep the volume low and still hear it without disturbing neighbors. They have held up perfectly for over 2 years - coastal...

    In retrospect... Share your wisdom.

I'm glad we 1. Went w/ 2 led lights - one isn't enough. Also pointed them away from the house - no glare. 2. Didn't make it too deep - for us the pool is more user friendly, the kids will disagree as they grow older. Depth is 3-5.5 feet 3. Attached spa - we use it more than the pool - all year...

    Aeration to lower pool temp?

Curious. What's your TA. Adding acid every 3 days and having it climb from 7.2 to 7.8 seems like a lot of variability unless you have a ton of water features.

Spa light. I think a dark spa against a lit pool wouldn't look as good. You can look into a portable or a drop in light for the spa and go with 2 pool lights. My rec would be to have them run the conduits and install the housings and add lights when financially feasible. Should add about...

SWG Percentage vs Pump run time???

Your SWG is either on or off. The percentage relates to the amount of time ON during a given runtime. So 50%/6 hour run time is the same as 100%/3 hour run time. This allows you to control the amount of chlorine produced independent of the pump run time which is set to adequately filter your...

First pool under construction. Please provide some help! Marietta GA

LEDs don't give off enough light IMHO. I have 2 in my main pool 15k gallon and one in the spa. Worth the extra expense. Otherwise, I would go with a single standard light and orient it from the deep end to the shallow end. Clink on the link in my sig and look at the 5th or 6th pics. You can...

    Red vs. Black overpressure valve.

I currently own a Letro Legend cleaner and one of my little ones broke the housing coming out of the wall. Forced to take a trip to the pool store and, despite me telling them what I owned, said that the Polaris housing would suffice. Low and behold, my red overpressure valve wouldn't fit into...

CYA Level - Logic for SWG Pools

Higher cya shields chlorine from the sun. Protective effect. Would be hard to maintain such a high sustained level of FC without a swg.

Yikes! I guess we're talking apples and oranges here. Thats A LOT of rain.

Aqua Logic low salt level, salt level is 3200-34-- but display reading 2600

Not sure this is entirely a myth. I think it's ok to do if you have massive caking but prolonged exposure to undiluted acid will corrode the plates. Anyone have any idea what the actual risk is here?

    SWG and rain

I would be careful not to add too much salt - once that water has evaporated, the salt level should drop to normal - unless you're draining or there was significant overflow.

    Mustard algae 4, us 0

Order quality test kit. I have a TF 100 - easily worth the expense. http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/124-pool-test-kits-comparison If chlorine is tested below 10 then recheck pH and correct. Don't adjust pH if chlorine is above 10 (test not reliable). Your shock level for mustard is...

This is why you bond your pool and equipment!

Wow! Improper bond... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=22f_1400791833 I know that a negative was improperly connected but wouldn't a properly bonded pool prevent this?

TDS and calcium hardness - 3rd year I have drained my pool.

Calcium gets concentrated in your pool water as a result of evaporation or added as one of the components of 'shock'. once water evaporates, you add more, including calcium. Over time, this drives it up.

    Outdoor Speakers

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_760CS1000W/PSB-CS1000-White.html Have had these for 1.5 years. Very crisp, even at low volumes (evening by the spa or AM swim). No doubt they can crank but I really wanted a low volume that I can hear from all parts of the immediate backyard and still be able to...

    Pergola addition

Here are pics of 2 pergolas we had built in our backyard. The square one was purchased online and delivered as a kit, cedar. The oddly shaped one is cedar and treated pine. Both were installed directly into concrete footings before the deck was poured. No problems there...and sturdy as heck...

    Spa maintenance.

Never gave this much thought but my SWG percentage when my pump is on spa mode is at 10%. Is that reasonable? Should I adjust based on bather load? I alter my pool mode percentage as needed based on season/sun/bather load etc but leave the spa one as is. My spa is connected to my pool and...

    Need advice on project.

Not sure what is meant by 'won't hold water properly'. Maybe the waterline isn't as sharp? Not sure. As for having the waterline at the very top....when the pumps are off, the only way for that to happen is if the water is perfectly still...try filling a glass of water to the brim, hard to...

    Need advice on project.

Not sure if you would have more of an issue w/ discoloration of the black plaster at the waterline when the pumps aren't running....I personally would go with tile. As for plaster in a spa - if done properly, it won't be uncomfortably rough.

    Pool finishes...pebble vs plaster...opinions?

Went back and forth on this one. We decided with an aggregate. Smoother finish, great color (my wife wanted a lighter color - not into the lagoon style colors) and there were no installers in our area that work w/ pebble on a regular basis. We are 100% pleased w/ our selection Sunstone...

During Build Process - Cost for additional LED Pool Light

Sounds reasonable. Light, niche, wiring, conduit....guys gotta make a living too. Some pool builders will add in a fixed profit percentage and then up charge considerably for these things, others will overcharge initially and not nickel/dime you down the road. You'll be glad you have 2 of...

    Question on landscape lighting.

Correct. Brass. They have some copper painted and solid copper as well. The cast lights are awesome but super expensive. I think brass will last. Mine have held up very well but only 1.5 yrs in.

    Question on landscape lighting.

Not Home Depot. That's middle of the road at best. If you're gonna do the work, spend a little extra so it lasts. I love volt. Sisi my entire backyard. Very happy with their products.
