    New Pool, need advice.

@Texas Splash and @duraleigh - does new plaster absorb calcium as it cures, thus causing the 0 CH reading? It definitely eats up acid, which makes the Ph level make sense to me. As for what constitutes balanced water, the biggest one is to make sure the water is sanitary. Ph below 8, and...

    Hayward TC-15 replacement options

Hello! Sizing your T-Cell is a function of how long you run your pump each day in concert with the cell's percentage use for it's capacity. If you ran your pump 24/7 at a speed at least fast enough to satisfy the flow switch and had the cell producing at 100%, you could maybe get away with...

    New Pool, need advice.

Hello! Your Ph is going to be a bit of a battle for the next month with a new plaster pool since the plaster will eat up acid as it cures. See: Start-up New Plaster. Test your Ph daily, and add MA as needed. There's also direction in there about when to add CYA and Chlorine to your new...

Looking for a replacement for my Pentair Warrior SE

If you're looking for a (basically) 1:1 replacement, I'd go with the E30, or the Triton PS. Those two robots look to be the exact same thing with different body kits and colors. Purchasing through Amazon allows for an extended protection plan (2 or 3 yr options) above the manufacturer. Hope this...

    Barrier Creams

Anyone have any experience with swimmers using a barrier cream while swimming? I and my kiddos have dry/sensitive skin and I'm considering applying something like this in addition to sunscreen. Maybe (probably?) it's not enough to make much of a difference in the water, but I didn't want to...

    TA and Chlorine go...up?

The chlorinator clearly says T-Cell-15 on it, but my banner signature choices don't include that option. Is a T-15 the same as a T-Cell-15?

    TA and Chlorine go...up?

T-Cell-15. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll get it fixed. 😊

I hate SLAM! But I also know it works.

I too just received my TF-Pro earlier this week. That magnetic stirrer is magic! IMHO, 💯 percent worth it.

    TA and Chlorine go...up?

Well folks, SLAM complete as of this morning! OCLT was 0, CC was 0, and that water is *crystal* clear. Now it's time to figure out this SWG and get it dialed in...

    TA and Chlorine go...up?

I'm up north - near(is) to 215 and 95 interchange. I'll double check that the stuff I bought is fresh. If it isn't, I'll take it back.

    SWCG Functionality Testing

Just drained and re-filled the pool in May. It hadn't been drained in about 7 years (or so says the pool guy). It was built in 2004, but yeah - pool is new to me (just moved in at the beginning of June).

    TA and Chlorine go...up?

Thanks for the tip re: Lowe's chlorine source. I found it today and it was a *much* better source of chlorine. Higher concentration and cheaper than Clorox. Plus, no Cloromax additive. Win win! Also, glad to hear from someone else who lives here that the water has a higher alkalinity. I'm...

    SWCG Functionality Testing

love this idea... thanks for the tip! Still new to testing methods, so it hadn't occurred to me to test right at the return.

    SWCG Functionality Testing

Hoping this makes it to you before you receive the business end of a ban-hammer. :ROFLMAO: I ordered the TF-Pro and added the Salt kit add-on, so I'm good there. Before I started the SLAM process, I measured 400ppm of salt. So, some, but definitely not enough to see results. Interesting thought...

    New to all the things!

Thanks for the reassurance! I did get a test kit, the TF-Pro. Already started the SLAM process (FC came out at 0 yesterday... *wince*) - thread is here.

    SWCG Functionality Testing

True. I guess I was trying to avoid adding a couple hundred pounds of salt until I knew the unit was working. I guess maybe that's not as big a deal as I think it is? (Besides the $50-ish cost of the salt)

    TA and Chlorine go...up?

Interesting - I'll make sure to get that bottle vertical. Are other tests in the kit this sensitive to bottle orientation and/or static build up? Or is it just the TA test?

    TA and Chlorine go...up?

Ah! The instructions with the test kit instructed wiping the R-0009 cap with a damp cloth, now I know why (and I did...). I suspect that my test results may be inconsistent due to inexperience, knowing when to stop counting. TA may have been higher in the beginning - I just didn't stop at the...

    TA and Chlorine go...up?

Thank you both for the feedback re: Clorox! I did try to pay attention to anything on the label about scents, or other additives. I stayed away from concentrated formulas, and while I didn't see anything about cloromax on the labels, I'll heed your advice and look for a different source of...

    SWCG Functionality Testing

Everypeoples, I'm new to pool care and "discovered" I have a SWCG cell in my post-filter return line, and it even appears to be sized correctly! I assumed that it was inop due to particulate build up, and so prepared to clean it. After removing the cell and looking in, I discovered that it's in...

    TA and Chlorine go...up?

Hey folks! Thanks in advance for all the awesome support - this community is awesome. First, here's a link to my pool's info. (My real-life nickname is Grubby, thus the silly pool name) Tl;dr: TA *increased* after adding MA and SLAM levels of chlorine. Total chlorine seems to have gone up...

    New to all the things!

Hello all you beautiful people! I've been lurking around the forums here for a few weeks - just moved into a home with a pool, and it's my first! I've got two kiddos, and they're getting *daily* use out of it during their summer break here in Las Vegas, NV. All the great information here has...
