Hey Steve is it possible to take a large channel lock pliers and manually turn that shaft til your holes realign?

Not sure what kind of pump you have but a little trick I do for leaves and other debris is I place the pump inside of the skimmer basket and place it on top of the cover, that will help keep your pump from getting clogged up
