Draining pebble tec pool - acid wash?

I forced water into that line with the hose and didn't see any water bubble up.

Draining pebble tec pool - acid wash?

Thank you for that info for the pump and filters! Will look into those. As far as the capped pipe to the right and the uncapped pipe to the left--that was an old gas line for a gas stove that has since been changed out for electric. The uncapped line is connected to nothing on the other side...

Draining pebble tec pool - acid wash?

It's a Waterway filter, not sure which specifically, with 4 cartridge filters. Here's some pics of the pump, filter, the plumbed hole in the wall (approx. 0.75" diameter) and the valves that are roughly 20 ft from that wall of the pool.

Draining pebble tec pool - acid wash?

I've filled out my signature with what I could for now. The sticker on my pump that had the model info has worn off. I've only taken over this pool a couple of years ago and have no idea when it was built, however the plaster/pebbletec doesn't look all that old, but it's hard to tell. I do not...

Draining pebble tec pool - acid wash?

It does not have an autofill that I know of. I have to use the hose to top it off every 3 days or so in the summer. I didn't do the diluted test you linked, just the regular CYA test. I'll try that one thanks!

Draining pebble tec pool - acid wash?

Thank you for your help on this! I'm using the Taylor K-2006C test kit that's recommended here, so that's how I determined my CYA. I am not sure when the pool was last drained completely as I don't know what the previous owners did. I do have a water softener and tested the hose water I use to...

Draining pebble tec pool - acid wash?

Hi all, I have been following the TFP method for about a year now and it has helped a lot. I did however get lazy towards the end of the summer and started floating pucks instead of my daily liquid routine and my CYA of course has shot up to 130, so I understand that I need to drain and refill...

    Algae came back again

Appreciate all of your help! I've ordered the test kit, and am looking into buying a submersible pump to do the water exchange per the article you linked to hopefully avoid any damage to the pool. Then going forward I will use liquid chlorine. Thank you all!

    Algae came back again

Thank you for the info and the quick reply! I will get one of those test kits--I've been getting by with strips (have only had the pool for about a year so far) and these latest results were from the pool store. Also, that makes sense I should use liquid chlorine which doesn't contain CyA...

    Algae came back again

Hello, I have about a 15,000 gallon Pebble Tec play pool, water is clear however I noticed green algae on the steps and walls. Test results as follows: FC: 1.35 TC: 1.35 pH: 8.1 TA: 71* adjusted due to effect of CyA CH: 379 CyA: 207 Iron: 0 Copper: 0.1 Phosphates: 1081 TDS: 3200 I was advised...
