Mustard algae on the sides and 2-3 green algae spots.

Thanks for the reply, and the advice. I know pool store tests are not to be relied upon, but I wanted to get an idea. Anyhow, I think its time for me to get serious and start testing water myself. I was shocked when Leslie's said that I have very high TDS and tech was like are you sure you don't...

Mustard algae on the sides and 2-3 green algae spots.

Hi! I have been successfully managing my pool for last 5-6 years using knowledge gained here. and I was at the point where I could eye-ball my pool and judge if I need to add chemicals and approximately how much. Well things happened with life, and I kind of couldn't focus much on the pool. I...

    What is this spot?

Yes, I do have a pool brush, but it doesn't help. Will do OCLT later (going out of town for some days).

    What is this spot?

Just spotted couple of these spots in my pool with one being the biggest, and couple others are small. Any ideas on exactly what this is and the best method to remove the spots? Thanks.

Time for a new pool cleaner?

Thanks for the reply, Jason. I am going with Polaris 360. Amazon seems to have the best price ($399). All local retailers are selling it for $579+, so decent savings too. Even ebay is not cheaper.

Time for a new pool cleaner?

Hello experts: The pool cleaner that came with the house that we bought in 2011 is not working properly. (House was built in 2004, so my best guess is that the cleaner is about 8-9 years old). Issues with the pool cleaner: 1. Tail does not wag, so doesn't help with moving the dirt on the...

Question on how to replace Jandy Energy Filter

Hi! I have been managing my pool, thanks to reading this amazing forum. Energy filter top is cracked (almost 10 years old) and is leaking water. Filter is also extra dirty, so I am thinking of replacing the whole setup with this (Amazon). It is almost the same price for the whole package versus...

Thanks guys..I am not worried about TDS anymore :) Linen: Those are my test results, except Nitrates which is Leslies. Linen: I dont test my water daily (just look at it to see how the water appears), but it seems that pH goes up by 0.4 -0.6 units every 5-10 days. We do have a water fall, but...

Is this TDS high? Leslie's kind of scared me...

Well, to be fair to Leslie, he did mention about getting salt system which generates chlorine from the salt in water. He said that this system costs about $600..and it will cost me ~$500 to drain and refill the pool (his numbers), I havent checked it yet. Also, they say it has to be below...

Hello Experts: Motor on the pump has been making slightly more noise than normal. Yesterday, I had a pool repair guy (for something else) come to fix the timer. He mentioned that noise indicates to him that the pump is on last legs..might last 1-2 years or go bad in a day or week..he cant...
