Yet another Cloudy Water thread ....

Until I can get my test kit, I'm going to just maintain pH and hope for the best. The pool store did give me the test results, and then tried to sell me $300 worth of chemicals. I didn't buy any. :) TA 80 Chlorine 5 Bromine 10 pH 7.2 TH 0 CYA 0 I know there is some CYA in there.... I dumped in...

Yet another Cloudy Water thread ....

I have been checking really frequently, mainly because I think it's cool to see what's going on in there. My chlorine levels are not going down and I'm using Trichlor to shock so I'm thinking there is at least some CYA in there. I didn't spend much on the trichlor, $10 for 5 pounds, so I won't...

Yet another Cloudy Water thread ....

I'm definitely buying the TF100 on Friday and will do everything I *should* have been doing in the first place! I'm guessing that will be here Tuesday, so is there anything I can or should do in the meantime? The water is already looking MUCH better and the Borax worked, my pH is currently 7.2...

I have what looks to be sand on the bottom

I had the beginning of an algae bloom and the sand/dirt in the pool was slimy and stuck. I used the brush that comes with the pool to scrub every surface, then I let it settle, backwashed the filter, and vacuumed it. Cleaned the visible gunk right up. Now working on other water issues, becoming...

Yet another Cloudy Water thread ....

Please bear with me and don't laugh or yell at how incredibly stupid I was. :hammer: I was using the dip test strips. Okay, I get now why you aren't supposed to use them!! I bought them, then read that they suck, but figured, well it can't be that bad right? I have been using the floating...

    Brink of Collapse :(

Oh my gosh, that link was PERFECT! EXACTLY what I am dealing with! The bobcat guy dug it out to make it level, and it's pretty deep - the whole thing was a slope about 2' out of level. The end that is sinking is the deepest part, where it is dug deep enough to get to clay. (However, I didn't...

    Brink of Collapse :(

Oh, I am so sad. We put up our pool last week (Intex metal frame, 24' round.) Before we bought it, we had a pool installer level the ground with a bobcat. It was wonderful! We had a good week... and then, today, a huge rainstorm. The pool legs on one side (which are on bricks, as I read to...

New pool, can you help with chemical info?

Thank you!! I'm pleased with the water so far, everything was perfect for beginning. The pH is 7.2 and chlorine was 0. I've got chlorine going in there now and the pump is going. The kids want to swim but the water temperature is under 55 degrees so they are going to have to wait! Thanks again!!

New pool, can you help with chemical info?

I am getting my Intex 24' metal frame pool filled up by a pool water guy tonight. (I am on a well and I don't want to deal with the iron.) I have no clue about the chemicals, and the guy at the pool store made it sound really expensive and difficult. I read through the BBB method and I think I...

    Census Poll on Intex Users

My pool is going to be delivered TODAY!!! I'm so excited!! I bought the 24' metal frame from doheny's, it was the best deal because even though wally-world had them cheaper, the shipping was outrageous. It looks like the new metal frames come with a better pump than the old style. It's the...

Can you build a deck around an impermanent pool??

I will be purchasing the Intex 24' by 52" Metal Frame pool within the next few weeks. My plan is to take this pool down in the offseason to prevent rusting. This is a bug purchase for us so I want it to last as long as possible. I would like to build a small deck on this pool. Probably 10' by...
