Featured Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine - Reboot!!

That's like...October ? That's as bad as my local grocery store that stacks the boxes outside in the sunshine...hit 82F yesterday...I figure they should be expensive salty water in another couple of weeks.

    Testing beside the pool

Sampling tube (length of PVC pipe with a cap on each end with a hole drilled in it - think really big straw - cover the hole, dip, uncover the hole, straw fills, cover the hold, hold over a cup, uncover, water fills the cup). Take the cup to the couch where I have 4 nice clean test tubes and 4...

Advice on pump and filter replacement

If you are semi-handy, the plumbing is pretty easy, and fairly forgiving. If you could manage lego, you can pretty much do PVC plumbing outside where a leak is annoying and not catastrophic. I have all 1-1/2" piping. I bought a new Calimar 3HP pump, adapted the inflow/outflow to 2" and it works...

What pool chemicals do I need to buy

Well, those are on special, and are usually $16, which would be twice the price ;)

What pool chemicals do I need to buy

I use the knee-highs on my pool-devils too, but I may have to try these and see if they'll work for both.

What pool chemicals do I need to buy

At this time of year, pollen and tree-debris are probably clogging your filter as much as anything. Check your skimmer - probably has a basket. Get a pack of ladies knee-high stockings and stretch one over the skimmer basket. The debris will be caught by the stocking, and not get into the...

Yeah, I'm thinking that might be a standard Menards price now...I thought I caught all the Menard's states - I'll add Indiana to the list :)

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine - Reboot!!

So I was looking through the B.P.t.B.L.C post the other day after someone had asked about a specific state, and I realized with 74 pages going back 9+ years, most of the detail in there was probably only of historic value, and it was really hard to find relevant information. So, being an...

I added them for those 4 States, and flagged them as 'special pricing' I may have to run up to our local one...I really only use it for the hot-tub at this time of year, but always worth having a couple spare on hand (in the well room where it's 63F ;) )

    Death Swamp

Regular pictures during the process - it's amazing when you put them altogether at the end and you can see the progression as it clears up. Sorry about the animals.....although I kind feel like there is a story there, I don't know why, but did the cat chase the bird who chased the spider who...

    SWG reading vs Taylor

If the SWG is happy, and you have somewhere to store the salt, no need to add it. Keep it handy in case the SWG turns around and suddenly decides it's not happy any more ;) If the Taylor says 2800, I would say it's probably closer to 2800 than the 3200, but the test is 200ppm a drop, so +/- 200...

HELP! Just moved in and opened pool. YIKES!!! Where to even start?

One thing I always suggest - take a photo of the pool multiple times a day during a slam - you can then string all the photos together and you will see the change happening. Sometimes it's easy to think no progress is being made when it really is ;)

HELP! Just moved in and opened pool. YIKES!!! Where to even start?

Let it drop to the recommended SL. And. Maintain ;) The key is the Maintain - make sure you've read the process...then read it again :)

    TF-Pro Salt

It has everything you need. If you REALLY wanted to, the only thing I would add to the TF-100 Pro salt is a few extra test tubes and a couple of extra stirrer magnets - just means you can sit and run all your tests in one go, rather than constantly washing out the tube and magnet. Also, if you...

Bioguard Non-CYA Eco Sunscreen and Clarifier

$10 per litre, and 400ml/10000gal a month, so $15 a month in my pool. A small price to pay to add mystery goop of unknown composition to solve a problem most people are still going to have because they're using pucks in the first place.... ;)

You can send in a whole bunch of receipts in one envelope...but even without the rebate, at $4.99/gal for 12.5%, it's still one of the cheapest around.

    Pool store testing question

Most of the TF-100 tests are color-CHANGE, not color-GRADIENT. TA, CH, FC and TotalC are color change (or color to no-color). If you are trying use the comparator block for Chlorine measurement, thats not very accurate (and really is a 'is there chlorine or not' type test only).

7lbs of granular stabilizer is $50 at the pool store. Are there cheaper options?

Ama$on has it for around $30 shipped for 7lbs...couple brands are even cheaper (Puri-tech 10lbs for $30)

Considering SWG for 30k gallon Pool

Are you handy ? Do you have automation it's connecting to etc ? I mean, a non-Pentair equivalent SWG is probably $1500, so you're paying $1000 for installation...which is basically plugging it in and a bit of PVC plumbing.... (edit : Salt is like $7 a bag - even 20 bags would only be about...

    New pump and SWG recommend

Nope - that is direct from the panel. The scheduling is a little quirky (because you know, timers and clocks are leading edge technology these days..) and runs from a single start time, and then is X hours at Y speed. You don't seem to be able to set X hours at 0 speed tho, so if you need a...

    New pump and SWG recommend

I know I was able to get an Assurion 3-year warranty on it when I purchased it through Pool Supply Unlimited - not sure if that's still an option. Only negative I've had with the pump is connecting it to automation. Needs a separate board (another $50-100) and then doesn't seem to be very...

I'm lousy at balancing water. 250 Gal Hot tub, kept at 80 F unless bumped up to 100 for humans. TH, Which I assume is measuring calcium, is at zero.

Also, with your Hot Tub, the much smaller volume of water means things get out of balance much more quickly, and a small amount of chemical goes a LONG way. I plan on draining/refilling my Hot Tub probably 3-4 times a year. I generally use Dichlor after a fill until my CYA hits 30-40, and then...
