    Metal in water after rain.

Thanks! Thanks for the reply! Was your friend's brown water problem constant, or just after a heavy rain?

    I'm hoping so. Thanks!

    Metal in water after rain.

The company that's coming out does both, well drilling and filtration systems. I'm hoping it's like you said, that the damage is close to the surface, maybe at a joint or something. The well was drilled prior to 1970 though, so I'm prepared for the worst, just in case. I appreciate your replies!

    Metal in water after rain.

That's what I'm thinking. That the problem is with the well. I'm not looking forward to paying for a new well, but if I gotta, I gotta. I'd rather do that than waste money on a metal filtering system and find out later it was the well. Thanks for the replies!

    Metal in water after rain.

I think the well is around 200 ft. deep. I've been told by one contractor that there could be a crack in one of the joints of the casing. And then another one told me he thinks it's iron or limestone. What I'm wondering is, would a heavy rain make more iron or limestone come in? Does a heavy...

    Metal in water after rain.

Thanks for the reply! I have an appointment for someone to take a look at it next week. I'm trying to gather as much info as I can before he comes out. I don't want him to try to sell me a filtration system that will only act as a bandaid if the well is really the issue.

    Metal in water after rain.

Hi! We've been having an issue with brown water with sediment but only after a very heavy rain. The last time we filled the hot tub the water was visibly brown and smelled weird. It's hard to describe but I guess I'd say it smelled like a lake. My question: The fact that it only happens...

    Suspecting mustard algae.

Found my algae hiding spot. The styrofoam on my weir flap was falling apart so I took it off to replace it and there's was bright green algae under it. And this was after finishing a SLAM. I bet the algae would have come right back again once the FC level drifted down. I never would have thought...

    Taylor sample sizer tool

Does the Sampler Sizer work with the CYA test? And do the tubes that come with the Taylor 2006 work with it?

    Suspecting mustard algae.

Good to know. I'll keep at it. ;) Interesting. I have been using up last year's CYA reagent, consistently got reading of 40. I just cracked open a new bottle and got a reading of 50. Thanks so much! I bumped the chlorine up to MA level for 50 CYA. I'm still thinking it's mustard algae...

    Mustard algae

What is the little extra that you do for mustard algae at the end of a slam? Thanks!

    Suspecting mustard algae.

How long does it usually take you to get rid of the mustard algae? Did you need to keep the chlorine at MA level for awhile after passing all the criteria?

    Suspecting mustard algae.

Thanks for the reply. My problem is that I passed all the criteria and thought I was done with the SLAM. It was when the FC drifted back down that the algae came back. Water was crystal clear, I passed OCLT, mostly had zero cc (never more than .5). I had it at MA level for 48 hours. Should I...

    Suspecting mustard algae.

I did a SLAM last week because water was cloudy and there was some visible algae on the shady side of the bottom and on the ladder steps which are also shaded. I SLAMmed it for a few days with no improvement so I bumped it up to Mustard Algae SLAM level. The water instantly cleared, the filter...

Very cloudy water days after removing metals with citric acid.

So, it's a week later and the water is just now clearing up. Can't wait to see my electric bill. But every stain is gone including the hideous yellow tinge covering the liner that I didn't even realize was there until it lifted and I saw how blue my liner is supposed to be. I'm so...

Very cloudy water days after removing metals with citric acid.

I used the citric acid because I had a bunch of it on hand from when I was making my own dish washer detergent. When I started the procedure we were in the middle of a cool weather period here in the North East so I figured I'd have enough time to do it and have the pool ready for when it got...

Very cloudy water days after removing metals with citric acid.

Is it too soon for me to SLAM now? Was trying to bring the chlorine up slowly. The FC is still being knocked down. Just checked it and I lost 4 ppm in three hours.

Okay, great. Wasn't sure if having a set back after the initial positive results was a red flag. Thanks!

Very cloudy water days after removing metals with citric acid.

Hi, pool experts! I did the citric acid thing on Saturday to remove the metals and it worked like a charm. All stains gone. Tuesday morning it finally started holding chlorine and the water was nice and clear. Ph has been holding steady at 7.2. I had no CC throughout the process and had added...

Can't clear up algae before closing.

I started the Slam on Monday, so it's been 3 days. I'm using Clorox 8.25, nice and fresh. The only thing in the pool is the removeable steps. Since I started Slamming, the FC has held pretty steady. I've hardly even had to add much bleach. ***Just went out to pull the ladder out and indeed...

Can't clear up algae before closing.

Hi, pool experts! I've been wanting to close my pool for a week now but can't get the algae to clear up in order to do so. To make a short story long.... When I went on vacation I put a few pucks in the floater. When I came back, i measured the CYA and it read 30, so I added bleach...

    Can't remove filter housing top.

Popped right off and I didn't lose an eye or anything. :D Thanks, guys! Are there any tricks for getting it back on easily? It usually takes me the longest time to line it up and create suction.

    Can't remove filter housing top.

Hi, everyone! I put a new O-ring on my filter top this year and the suction is so great that I can't get the top off. Any suggestions? I have the pressure released and the drain open.

Dirt Like Substance on liner Pool

Not sure if it's the same thing but I had a similar problem which turned out to be sand. I picked some of it up and it was gritty.
